Lawrence O'Donnell: Source says Russian oligarchs co-signed Trump's Loans

He added that his source said Trump, a longtime real estate businessman, would not have been able to obtain his loans with Deutsche Bank without these co-signers he described as "Russian billionaires close to Vladimir Putin."

"If true," O'Donnell said, "that would explain every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and Vladimir Putin. If true. If true, that would be a significant factor in Vladimir Putin's publicly stated preference for presidential candidate Donald Trump over presidential candidate Hillary Clinton."

If true, if true. If true.

The Deutsche Bank's reply to Congress that they have substantial Trump records including tax returns would have been plenty of news today.

Well Trump's personal lawyers are fighting like hell to stop the subpoenas against the Deutsche Bank records that the House has filed.

I'm sure this can't be true. What evidence is there that Trump would have any financial ties to Russia? Other than two of his children explicitly saying that almost all of their money comes from Russia, I mean.

Is Trump Force One currently being prepped and fueled for a one-way trip to Minsk?

Oh, don't worry. The Trumpets will be along to tell us it's all fake news, he didn't do it, and even if he did, it's no big deal. Besides, Hilary Clinton has done way worse, and there is something shiny over there.

No, I'm sure this is the one thing.

Assuming I am correct that this is sarcasm, it indicates that you are more concerned with our disapproval of this than the president being compromised by a hostile foreign power that attacked the US, which the president has subsequently protected and advocated for.

Now that is conpletely in line with prioritizing attacking the 'progs' over all other concerns including the well being of the USA, but not in line with the kind of conservative you seem to wish you were. If you can get through the stages of grief for your movement faster, you can start rebuilding sooner.

Ask yourself what is more important to you: attacking the 'progs' or the president being a forgein agent (all qualifiers of 'if true' and the like assumed).

You can, at any time, put civic duty ahead. It is more comfort than attacking political opponents. The transition is just hard.

"He tricked a bunch of stupid Russkies into being on the hook for his loans? What a genius!"

Since investigative reports indicate that the oligarchs pay Putin 10% or so “off the top”, perhaps they’re relying on him to back their loans.

Sweet deal for Putin, reputedly one of the wealthiest men in the world. Pay up, or the state will find that you’re mentally ill or otherwise naughty.... And you’ll be in prison with all your assets seized.

Can you provide a statement from them explicitly saying almost all of their money comes from Russia?

Well, it’s hard to shake the faith of a true Trump believer. What, if anything, would convince you that Trump is not fit for office?
Four things: Proof of constitutional ineligibility (age, citizenship), losing an election, inability to perform his duties (as provided by the 25th Amendment), or a vote to convict by the Senate following impeachment by the House.

I concede that if we assume that you're right, then we must conclude that you're right.

"In terms of high-end product influx into the US, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets," Donald Trump Jr. said at a New York real-estate conference [in 2008]. "Say, in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo, and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

Dodson said he then questioned Eric Trump, who was along for the day.

"I said, 'Eric, who’s funding? I know no banks — because of the recession, the Great Recession — have touched a golf course. You know, no one’s funding any kind of golf construction. It’s dead in the water the last four or five years,'” the writers told WBUR.

"And this is what he said. He said, 'Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.' I said, 'Really?' And he said, 'Oh, yeah. We’ve got some guys that really, really love golf, and they’re really invested in our programs. We just go there all the time.’"

Oh, and Trump himself said in 2013 that he'd done "a lot of business with the Russians":

That's just some of what Trump and his sons have said. There's a lot more linking Trump and Trump's real estate with Russians.

Curious that they started to deny having any connection to Russia once those connections started being investigated, really.
