SILVIO BERLUSCONI WAS FULLY ACQUITTED TODAY IN THE LAST OF THE 18 TRIALS HE HAS FACED IN 10 YEARS. PREVIOUSLY THE PRIME MINISTER WAS ACQUITTED IN THE OTHER 18 TRIALS AS WELL.

JUST 3 WEEKS AGO, THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR (THE COMMUNIST) ILDA BOCCASSINI, HAS ASKED 8 YEARS OF JAIL FOR THE PRIME MINISTER.
THE JUDGES OF MILAN HAVE TODAY CLOSED WITH THIS DECISION A LONG PAGE FOR ITALY AND FOR THE ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER, THAT FOR 10 YEARS WAS, NOW WE CAN SAY, A VICTIM OF A POLITICAL AGRESSION BY THE PUBLIC PROSECUTORS OF MILAN!

IT'S A GREAT DAY! :)

Processo Sme, Berlusconi assolto

How does he keep getting put on trial? Doesn't he aquire the justice system a few years ago in a merger? Wasn't it all over the italian media which he also owns?

He must be a great leader, Putin is following right in his footsteps.

The law to protect the highest Institutional chairs was proposed by the Left Opposition, but the Center Right Government didn't pass it. The Prime Minister wanted to defeat this public prosecutors of Milan (communists) for the 18th time! And he won!

The media? the 85% of the journalists are leftist..

Oh he managed to rigle out of one how is he doing on the others. I admit I haven't been following italian poltics as closely as might but I did notice that Silvio Berlusconi now seems to be trying shut down the left wing media in the uk as well.l

I rather doubt Rupert Murdoch, who literally owns the UK press these days, knows any of the words to The Red Flag. Neither do most of his shallow-minded paparazzi and editorial staff. So would you care to review your statement above?

Give a look at BBC or RAI.. ;)
Why? Do they say outright that they are a "left-wing" organisation? Really, I would have thought that the stuffed-shirts of the BBC would be further to the right than you or Murdoch or Genghis Khan.

Or is it simply that you don't like what they report...? So they, or indeed anyone who disagrees with you, are automatically "left-wing" in your opinion?

Once again SILVIO BERLUSCONI was allowed to escape jail because of a technicality. This is one of the many times it is the statute of limitation.

Was this particular case a result of one of the laws he had passed to protect himself? How many times has he been convicted when a jury got to see the evidence? I got confused after the tenth trial.

When he escaped jail time due to existing laws, I have no problem with him spending a comfortable retirement. When he had laws passed to protect himself, it was funny in a sick, perverted way and only because I am not an Italian.

The reality is that he is a crook. The Italian electorate has turned their country's political and legal system into the laughing stock of the western world.

In the UK, like in Italy and everywhere, the media are leftwing oriented.
Did you happen to read the piece the Economist did on him? It gave a very detailed list of the "questionable" activities he has been involved in.

From a 2001 article:
IN ANY self-respecting democracy it would be unthinkable that the man assumed to be on the verge of being elected prime minister would recently have come under investigation for, among other things, money-laundering, complicity in murder, connections with the Mafia, tax evasion and the bribing of politicians, judges and the tax police. But the country is Italy and the man is Silvio Berlusconi, almost certainly its richest citizen. As our own investigations make plain (see article), Mr Berlusconi is not fit to lead the government of any country, least of all one of the world’s richest democracies.

Or is the Economist left wing also?

This is going to be news to the The Sun, The mail, The telegraph and The times amounst others. Would you mind sending a letter too them with a returna address explaining your theories so they can mock you as a stupid italian.

While indymedia are undubtedly left I feel asking the FBI to grab thier servers is a little extream. At the very least the met could have been told in advance.

And i forgot to say to all the 'communist morons' of this forum that i'm very PROUD to have voted for Berlusconi and i'm very proud that i'll vote for him the next year because at the opposite of the leftwing bla bla bla he's a man that works and not Chirac's style crook.

**** socialo-communist technocrats!

Talk about lack of objectivity.

Name one good thing he has actually done for your country.

Being a technocrat isn't necessarily a bad thing. I mean, who would have thought that technology might actualy HELP in solving the worlds problems.

Putin is to Russia as Berlusconi is to Italy.

I think we have found our new Huzington, and he represents the Authoritarian Right wing of the system.

And all the Italians I know told me I'd never hear an Italian admit that he voted for Berlusconi.....

Well well ..

I think our friend " Berlusconi " has not read correctly what appears in the Corriere ( the main Italian newspaper ) web-site: http://www.corriere.it/Primo_Piano/Cronache/2004/12_Dicembre/10/sme.shtml
I will translate for non-Italian speakers: " Sme: Absolution and prescription [ .. ] The President of the Council Silvio Berlusoni comes out half absolved and half prescripted form the SME process ".
That is, for half of the formal accusations made to Berlusoni, too much time passed from when he would commit the facts so, he is free, but he has not been judged as innocent by the court.

However, today, Berlusoni's former right hand has been condemned to 9 years of jail for association with mafia !

http://www.corriere.it/Primo_Piano/Cronache/2004/12_Dicembre/11/dellutri.shtml

I think that our friend Berlusoni ( the JREF member, not the prime minister ), is one of those fanatics of Berlusconi ( the prime minister, not the JREF poster ) who would worship him even if he actually saw robbing with his/her own eyes.

So, please take his claims with a little grain of salt.

>cough< That isn't what a 'technocrat' is. "Technocrat" dervies from the Ancient Greek root 'techne' or 'skill' and 'cracy' or 'power'- the skill of manipulating power. It is used to describe people who are more interested in acquiring power for its own sake and not doing anything useful with it. Famous technocrats include Robert McNamara, Henry Kissinger, Donald Rumsfeld, and probably Berulsconi.

It's a common mistake, one that isn't helped by the fact that dictionaries support the myth. Normally I don't argue with dictionaries, but in this case they completely fail to recognise that 'technology' comes from the roots 'techne' or 'skill' and 'logia' or 'knowledge'- the skill of knowledge.

Sorry to be so pedantic, but we really need a word to describe what technocrat describes, and there really isn't a ruling system or a person who only attempts to rule through technology.

Well, technically you didn't "hear" it, after all.

Frankly, I'm rather amused by the implication that anyone opposed to Berlusconi's power grab is a communist. :D
