I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'd have traded Neil Armstrong's first step for Gene Cernan's last step in a heartbeat. The Apollo 11 EVA lasted just 2.5 hours. Gene and Jack were there for three days and made 3 EVAs totaling over 22 hours on the lunar surface, and they drove the LRV over 22 miles. I do not in any way mean to belittle the first step on the moon, but the J-Missions were what the Apollo Program was really all about.

Aldrin, Bean, Scott, Young, Duke, Schmitt

Soon there will be none. It's sad to think that they could all be dead before humans return to the moon. The Chinese might get there before that happens, but that's several years out.

Agreed all around. And they were finally "getting good at it".
If they could have known the future, I expect we would have continued.
I doubt even the complacent US public would have believed it would just ... stop, and for so long.
