Koch Brothers consumer products

Is it because they're conservative and support conservative causes? There are lots of rich people who support all sorts of stuff. .....

In case you didn't know, they are not the paragons of conservative virtue that the echo chamber would have the faithful believe.
David Koch Supports Gay Marriage, Pot Legalization, And Ending Wars — And You Shouldn’t Be Surprised

Thursday afternoon, POLITICO reported that billionaire industrialist David Koch, the oft-vilified bankroller of groups aimed at electing Mitt Romney and many Republican congressman, supports many libertarian positions that are antithetical to the Republican Party. While this may come as a surprise to many, it’s actually quite well-known that the Kochs are socially liberal and fiscally conservative — a.k.a., “libertarian”. Koch was the 1980 vice presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party who campaigned on things like drug legalization and a non-interventionist foreign policy.

I think conservatives need to understand that the only point behind the Koch's is the very Machiavellian hobby of trying to buy a government, and collect money, just for the lulz, apparently. They don't really like very many segments of their country's society. I can't see why they deserve any respect at all, but that's just my opinion.

For funding a sophisticated guerrilla-style campaign against science, just for starters.

From 2005 to 2008 Koch Industries-controlled foundations contributed $24.9 million in funding to organizations of climate change skeptics. Efforts include:

More than $5 million to Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFP) for its nationwide “Hot Air Tour” campaign opposing clean energy and climate legislation.
More than $1 million to the Heritage Foundation, which writes about climate and environmental policy issues.
Over $1 million to the Cato Institute, which disputes the scientific evidence behind global warming, questions the rationale for taking climate action, and has been heavily involved in spinning the recent ClimateGate story.
$800,000 to the Manhattan Institute, which has hosted Bjorn Lomborg twice in the last two years, a prominent media spokesperson who challenges and attacks policy measures to address climate change.
$365,000 to Foundation for Research on Economics and the Environment (FREE), which advocates against taking action on climate change because warming is “inevitable” and expensive to address.
$360,000 to Pacific Research Institute for Public Policy (PRIPP) which supported and funded An Inconvenient Truth...or Convenient Fiction, a film attacking the science of global warming and intended as a rebuttal to former Vice-President Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth (PRIPP also threatened to sue the U.S. Government for listing the polar bear as an endangered species.)
$325,000 to the Tax Foundation, which issued a misleading study on the costs of proposed climate legislation.

The reports says such contributions are only part of the picture, because the full scope of direct contributions to organizations is not disclosed by individual Koch family members, executives, or from the company itself.
Organizations' messaging on "ClimateGate"

ClimateGate Echo Chamber—At least twenty Koch-funded organizations have repeatedly rebroadcast, referenced and appeared as media spokespeople in the story, dubbed “ClimateGate,” regarding stolen emails from the University of East Anglia in November 2009. These organizations claim the emails prove a “conspiracy” of scientists and "proves" climate change is a hoax.

He "supports" gay marriage, pot legalization and ending wars but he gives money to politicians who oppose gay marriage, oppose legalizing pot, and are against ending wars.

Because those issues are not as important as getting that next tax/regulatory cut to make his millions grow...

The notion of major US newspapers potentially being acquired by the Koch brothers is downright nauseating.

Conservative Koch Brothers Turning Focus to Newspapers
Koch Industries ... is exploring a bid to buy the Tribune Company’s eight regional newspapers, including The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, The Orlando Sentinel and The Hartford Courant.

Newspapers? If the Kochs want to invest millions of dollars into a dying industry, I say more power to 'em.

If I'm not mistaken, this board is for discussion of USA Politics.

A gathering of Democrats and liberals who discuss strategy and actions which will help their cause or damage their political opponents? That's DailyKos.

ETA: Maybe you could at least make the thread about why Koch should be boycotted.

For funding Climate science denial.
The kock Brothers are a danger to humanity.

I work at a Medical Center in purchasing and unfortunately I recently switched our paper towel over to georgia pacific. It saved us money and is better for the environment but I'm sad to hear it helps those Kochs

As I have said to people, managers, HR people, etc, "words don't mean jack to me, actions are what matters".
