Misogynistic. She is still not repulsive by any means. And, by North African standards, she has aged well. Fat is not viewed as ugly there. I knew an Egyptian woman whom most of us would consider seriously attractive and quite shapely who was ridiculed back home for being too thin.

She was functioning in a different society when she bulked up.

I'm nt really sure she would be on the low end of the aesthetic scale at home, either. I do not see a lot of scrawny East European women.

Cutting luxuriates is a good thing in war time.

One could just as easily interpret this as a sign things are going well for him.

Time will tell.

I'd suggest that when the only part of the country you still control is the capital, and there are protests even there, things aren't going so well.
