Merged Kevin Trudeau in Contempt

The thing is, he could fleece people without making them blind.
He could come up with BS "cures" that do no harm (apart from people forgoing actual real medical treatment, I guess).

But he plagiarises old BS "cures" from other scam artists that are harmful in themselves.

I fell for his memory book scam, no real ham done. Just a waste of twelve bucks and one hour of reading.

Yeah, I remember my parents buying his Mega-Memory system on cassette. Really great for remembering a list of randomly ordered words. It struck me as less work to study, than actually try and apply the technique to a real-world exam situation however.

The techniques actually work.
Derren Brown gives a run-down of these methods in one of his books.

They are apparently well-known and even used to be part of the curriculum in European schools.

Here's what Kevin did with it though:
Derren Brown covers all techniques in about five pages.
Kevin T does in about 400 pages.


As in: so much filler that it actually became impossible to read and thus the book was useless.
it was actually really impressive that it is possible to take a simple concept (three sentences) plus illustrative examples (two pages) and rehash that so many times that you can fill fifty pages with it.
I actually pity that copywriter.

Probably. But as a skeptic and an analytical person, I can still admire the genius of it and frankly, when I attempt strict unemotional, critical thinking, I walk close to the sociopath line myself. Here's a guy who, in some ways, sees the world more clearly than I do - it makes him a better predator.
 
This is all part of his plan. In jail he'll claim he's just doing research for his next book on the Legal Defense Tactics "They" Don't Want You To Know About.

I guess that depends on which definition of "clearly" that one chooses..

On the other hand, it doesn't make a much of a difference which definition of "predator" one chooses, Trudeau is among the very best. Jail is certainly the best place for him. Although I suspect he might thrive in that environment as well as he did in the scam-publishing environment.

Sorry,but that people have died because of Trudeau's scam should remove him any admiration in any form whatsoever.

The fact that I can abstract and admire one quality without an overlapping taint from another characteristic evinces my point about critical analysis being a brother to sociopathy. I don't suppose I should mention that Hitler had great oratorical skills?
 
On a serious note, I'm guessing he could very well write a book about surviving in prison or a memoir about being a pitchman. Is this one of those cases where he can't make any money by doing so, or is he allowed to pen something and keep the profits?

IANAL, but I think it varies from case to case and state to state (even though this is a Federal case - not sure what their rules are).
 
He'll probably try to portray himself as a whistle-blower the government imprisoned to prevent "the people" from learning "the truth".

I doubt they would distribute the profits from such a book among his victims who are only out the cost of a book. If people had each been defrauded of thousands of dollars, then they'd probably seize the profits.
