Kerry: US troops are terrorists

Well, some people are capable of handling two subjects in a single post. Take it up with Mark if you don't like it; it was his two-part post I was repsonding to. Now, if you want to claim it's a non sequitur, then by all means show me the context by which you see things that way.

Sorry if you got confused, but I do enough hand-holding for the 'tards here at the office. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to expect a bit more from you by way of attention span. ;)

You're blaming me for your posts? ;)

Not in the least. I'm just saying that we've been hitting parallel but separate issues in the last few exchanges... and while you and I seem perfectly fine with that, it's got Bob in a tizzy is all. :D

One can never underestimate the slimy depths some will sink to demonize those who disagree with them. Then we see the usual suspects taking what Kerry said and contorting it like this.

terrorize (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dic...ord=terrorized)
1. To fill or overpower with terror; terrify
2. To coerce by intimidation or fear. See Synonyms at frighten.

Tell me friends. When the U.S. attacked Iraq, do you disagree that the those in and around where the missiles landed were "terrorized". So then the U.S. soldiers are terrorists. Of course, are they the same as the terrorists that caused 9/11? Of course not. But your pathetic twisted use of rhetoric says they are.

This is a facetious redefining of the word. Are scary movies terrorizing people, so the directors should be put in jail? No?

Hmmm...there must be some other difference in how one uses the word.

I wonder what it is?

It's a pretty remarkable attitude to have about the world, from where I sit. The US appears to be pretty much the only country that feels justified in creating a base in any country it wants.
That's one of the rewards for being so successful. Hard work and good decision making should be rewarded. We won WWII. We have the most powerful economy in the world. We have the most popular culture in the world. We have the best military in the world. There are rewards for working hard to be the best.

I like my answer better. My answer is much more likely to annoy the US-bashers. :D

You're right. I was just thinking of all the Euro-whining going on with our decision to withdraw/reduce our forces stationed there. :D

And that can very well lie at the core (in whole or in part) for some critics -- not mentioning anyone specifically. Having the US being No. 1 (or at the top) in so many categories is annoying to many.

This is for them:

I've seen the clip of this. I feel sorry and not sorry for him at the same time. What he was trying to say (I hope) is that Iraqis should be doing the dirty work since the dirty work doesn't win hearts and minds.

However, a vietnam vet who had his brothers in arms called babykillers should have known when to cut off what he was saying and rephrase it. Honestly, its hard for me to be apologetic about this gaffe (if it is one).

My wife is a yellow dog democrat and even she was shocked by this. The average person on viewing this clip (not reading the transcript but just watching the clip once) gets a very negative image of our military personnel.

Mr. T might say "I don't pity the fool".

He didn't just "have his brothers called babykillers", he was personally the one doing the calling at that time too. Why should he change his tune now?
