I'll bet that's what they called it in the Old Testament, DF, "just having some fun".

To a Christian who believes in demonic spirits, "just having some fun" is a spell.

To the degree that Christians take the OT seriously, they'll be taking idolatry seriously, too.

People took this stuff deadly seriously, literally, so I disagree strongly that they'd be treating it as whimsically as you're portraying.

The problem with an awful lot of "xtians" is they take the OT much more seriously than the NT. Which makes them NOT xtians.

True, but the new testament has all that peace and love socialism hippy stuff in it and not all the good righteous smiting stuff that they enjoy so much.
