"Ecuador has revoked the citizenship of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who remains in a British prison."

"Ecuadorian authorities say Assange's naturalization letter had multiple inconsistencies, different signatures, the possible alteration of documents and unpaid fees, among other issues."

"In January, a lower court judge refused an American request to send Mr Assange to the US. But earlier this month, Britain's High Court granted the US government permission to appeal a decision that Mr Assange could not be sent there to face espionage charges."

What, the man who skipped bail in Britain, the man who broke into various secure rooms while hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy, the man who worked with Russia and the Trump campaign to undermine a democratic election, might have been less than honest on his citizenship papers?

I am shocked! How could anyone have expected something like that? Its so out of character for him.

So Mr. Wikireeks lied on his citizenship application.

The only thing surprising about this is that it took the Ecuadorians so long to notice.

Yeah, he was holed up in the embassy for years, and causing a huge mess. They would have had plenty of time to review his citizenship papers back then, and then use the faulty citizenship application as part of the premise for expelling him from the embassy.

He doesn't even necessarily have to done anything particularly bad on the application. I'm sure there's always something a bureaucrat can use as an excuse to reject or slow-play paperwork. And Ecuador can say pretty much anything it wants about the quality of the application they received.

Assange is a good reason why we should be skeptical when somebody is instantly elevated to the level of some great hero the Assange was.

Before considering sending Assange back to Australia, it might be in order to confirm he has Australian citizenship still. Removal of Ecuadoran citizenship does not necessarily mean he reverts to being an Australian citizen. Did he revoke his Australian citizenship on becoming Ecuadoran? Or did he have dual nationality?

He never became Ecuadorian.

Proof that if you don't follow a currently favored political narrative, you will be condemned by someone. Comical.

Never cared for him, and not due to any politics.
