Julia Gillard - liar

Bishop lacks credibility. Simple.

She's ruined her career, that's for sure, she's the laughing stock of Canberra. Apparently she's completely gone to ground, cancelling all press appointments, after Ralph Blewett was all but accused by his own sister of having raped her when she was a child. Considering that this case hinges on guilt by association, its a pretty damning association for her yo gave had, especially seeing as though the sister was warning politicians that he was of incredibly bad, evil even, character.

JuBish is terminate.

The one smart thing Abbott did throughout this whole sleazy escapade was to hang his deputy out dry on this escapade, he managed to minimise the damage to his already rock bottom esteem ( negative 63 point net approval LMFAO!) though that will be too little too late, there's no way the LNP will go to the polls in 2013 with a leader as badly compromised as Abbott, he's really the only thing Labor have going for him atm

Regarding polling, the Galaxy poll (commissioned by the media organ that has been front and centre of the whole sordid affair, an activist media organisation so hyper partisan that it has all but openly declared that it is at war with the government ,- I've been trying to get a breakdown on the numbers for each question but seemingly both News Ltd and Galaxy are playing coy and psephologist sources have expressed scepticism, the word push polling was bring bandied around), it conflicted with Morgan and now seems to conflict with Essential - though I'd really love to compare the questions.

Essential asked about AWU impressions: 39% of voters rated PM's handling good, 35% poor. The Opposition: 20% good, 49% poor. Media - 20%/37%

60% said they had read or heard a lot or some about the Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s involvement with the AWU when she was working as a lawyer 20 years ago, 25% said they had read/heard a little and 12% had read/heard nothing.

Those most likely to have read/heard a lot/some were men (65%), aged 55+ (78%) and Liberal/National voters (67%).

Those most likely to have read/heard a little/nothing were women (42%), aged 18-34 (53%) and Greens voters (57%)

...

39% think Julia Gillard’s handling of the issue has been good and 35% think it has been poor. Among Labor voters, 71% think it has been good and 7% poor and among those who have read/heard a lot about the issue, 39% think it has been good and 49% poor.

20% think the Opposition’s handling of the issue has been good and 49% think it has been poor. Among Liberal/National voters, 41% think it has been good and 21% poor and among those who have read/heard a lot about the issue, 26% think it has been good and 58% poor.

20% think the media’s handling of the issue has been good and 37% think it has been poor. Among those who have read/heard a lot about the issue, 25% think it has been good and 43% poor.

...

38% say the issue has made them feel more negative about Julia Gillard as prime Minister while 59% say it has made little or no difference or made them feel more positive.
Among Labor voters 89% say it has made them feel more positive or made little or no difference.

64% of Liberal/National voters say it has made them more negative while 35% say it has made little/no difference or made them more positive.

Those most likely to feel more negative about Julia Gillard were aged 55+ (45%)

What other lawyers think of it all.

Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop claims Gillard didn’t open a file on the union slush fund at Slater & Gordon because she “wanted to hide from the AWU the fact that an unauthorised entity was being set up”. But Michael Bradley, managing partner at law firm Marque Lawyers, reckons not opening a file is “not unusual or out of the ordinary. That’s pretty common place for lawyers.”

Acknowledging it’s not ideal, he said: “There is a difference between best practice and normal practice, in reality.”

A Sydney-based private practice lawyer, who spoke anonymously, agrees it does happen, even among the top ranks. She argues lawyers deal with a lot of paperwork, they have people working for them who will open files on their behalf, and “it wouldn’t be surprising to the entire legal profession that some lawyer doesn’t recall the finer details of a case she worked on 20 years ago”.

Then there’s the issue of whether Gillard should have known something was wrong with the fund. “It’s not a lawyer’s role to second-guess the instructions that are given,” Bradley said. “A principal allegation against Ms Gillard is that she set up this association which didn’t comply with the rules of the union at the time. They are suggesting she should have made herself aware of this and refused to participate. In terms of a lawyer’s obligation, that allegation is just wrong.”

I should also point out that while not opening a file is not uncommon practice. Is telling untruths to the WA commission? This is one of the key questions that Gillard refuses to answer - the article appears devoid of a response to the serious allegations. I wonder why?

There remains a lot of questions the PM (who is the worst one ever in part because she is a world class liar) still needs to answer over the AWU scandal. She knows it, the opposition know it, the (more discerning members of the) public know it and even the members of her party know it too.
She refuses to answer direct questions and obfuscates at every turn. Sneaky and dishonest. And the public see right through it now.

Her power base is diminishing - she looked foolish and weak last week over the Israel vote where she demanded support yet was defied by cabinet and then rolled by caucus - all after giving some er... assurances to the US about which way Australia would vote it would appear (yet another lie promise she couldn't keep?).

Her short run of luck in the polls has not only stalled but appears to be backsliding (we need to wait further on this obviously) and the coalition have exposed her left, right and centre. With an election looming Labor must be at their wits end looking at their alternative leaders again - if they go to the polls in 2013 at 53:47 they will be anhihilated.
The public are screaming for the Ruddster and Turnbull (given the 2PP situation, Turnbull will not be returning any time soon, on current polling Abbott has it in the bag). Gillard has no such luxury - there is nothing in the bank. One wonders how long Labor can continue supporting her.

This is the killing season and no one would be surprised if she was executed (politically speaking). Incredibly, yet again the knives are being sharpened as the vultures circle.
