Read Pickerings blog. There are some more clues in there - not to say I am playing 20 questions here either as I will say no more on my sources anyway. But there is lots of info and Pickering reckons the PMs tenure can be now counted in weeks. I don't know whether that is true or not, but if nothing else it is interesting.

There is no stupid like Monday-morning-quarterback stupid. It's an order of magnitude greater than "What did they do with the WMD??" stupid.
 
Here's that diagram I was talking about earlier. With all those unproven claims among the few actual facts it's no wonder I got confused...

Don't miss that lower loop by the way! What possible explanation could there be for a builder doing his own renovations other than to launder illicit union payments??? :rolleyes:

(It's obviously not a hierarchical network, but the labels didn't display correctly on more sensible layouts. Probably errors in it and certainly not every possible statement.)

That's possible but does not seem likely.

Two journalists were sacked last year when they brought this up. The story is gaining traction mainstream - in fact the yabbie was asked a question on it during one of her press presentations this week when she was talking about asylum seekers.

Pickering is daring someone to knock on his door to sue him.

Who knows where this will go, but Pickering reckons she will be out in weeks. Wishful thinking? Sure. I will keep on wishing. ;)

If I learnt that two journalists were dismissed without any knowledge of why, here are some reasons I might assume:
  • Laid off for business or financial reasons
  • Unacceptable job performance/quality
  • Breaching a code of ethics or similar restriction
  • Committing an illegal act as part of their work, e.g. fraud, libel

Here are some reasons I wouldn't immediately jump to:
  • Sacked to cover up a decades-old conspiracy, providing more evidence and implicating whoever was responsible for their sacking, but in no way preventing them from just telling someone else

Presumably the people you're referring to are Glenn Milne and Michael Smith, in which case I think your description of the scenario was a gross oversimplification. On the other hand, that second link was a particularly good refresher for me on some points I'd forgotten since.

(Related: are Jonathan Holmes and other Media Watch staff part of the cover-up, or were they somehow fooled by it when you were not?)

Where is your evidence that these journalists (and who are they, and who do they work for) were sacked because what they wrote about Gillard.

Here's a few snippets.
If you care to look up anything on Smith and Milne you will find plenty of info. Like Pickering, he (Smith) is doing the rounds of the radio stations these days (for those that dare to interview him). He has his version and he reckons he was sacked; so does Milne. Sacked, dropped, parted company - whatever. The coincidences are too great.
That said, the accusations of sloppy journalism or similar may also be true. That would be easier to believe if others writing now were being placed under similar pressure and scrutiny.


Anyway, it is an interesting story - some (you presumably) hope it's wrong, others hope it's right. I am obviously in the corner of the latter - the sooner she's gone the better for Australia.
Only time will tell.

Where these journalists sacked because of possible defamation?
Are you saying the worst Prime Minister ever leaned on Fairfax?
Why is the media including the UnOz not headlining all of this?
Why is Stalin not running with this in cowards castle?
Why aren't the police investigating?
Why is it only the very verbal, worst prime Minister ever haters only running with this?
Is it all a conspiracy because of 2010 elections?
Is everyone quiet because the mud may cling to them, this includes the Stalinist Party?
I am not in either camp of hoping it is wrong or hoping it is right. I just want the truth.
Many questions, no answers as yet to move me.
 
I agree. Many holes, much speculation; only time will tell. It will be fun to watch one way or the other.

If they are lies - like all of us - she has the law to use and challenge these things. As a lawyer, she really ought to know that. :rolleyes:

In the meantime, Pickering is openly calling for her to sue him (as I heard him say earlier this week on 3AW), and yet she does nothing. One has to wonder why.

Am I guilty of schadenfreud? A bit, sure. She deserves everything she gets; what goes around comes around, as they say.

She is quite probably the most hated PM in our history as well as the worst. Let's hope that soon we can finally say goodbye to this awful PM and actually move forward.
