Just a couple of comments.
Given Russia's history with nuclear accidents, they'll probably have a major nuclear weapons accident.
And about solving health issues: I predict that for many of the new treatments there will be a crooked doctor falsifying result to make a fortune giving lectures around the world. He will have a huge following.
Or a well-known model will not understand any of the science and not bother to read about the testing but will condemn it anyway and millions of people will believe her, so there will be no chance of eliminating the disease.
Oh, and maybe some religious sect will condemn the cure.
