Jon Stewart most trusted

I don't really understand how people can claim any newscaster is "trustworthy" or "untrustworthy." A large percentage of the news they present during each broadcast was neither researched, gathered nor fact checked by them personally, so if it is accurate it is no thanks to them.

This idea never occurred to the person who gave 'Uncle Walter" the sobriquet as "The most trusted man in America."

Now, print journalism is where trustworthiness comes in because bylines tell you who is responsible for making sure what is reported is accurate.

Ask Jayson Blair or Janet Cooke if that is a fail safe method.

No. Only if they wanted to do it by Bush's method. I wanted him removed, or at least defanged, but by diplomatic means. Dennis spoke out in favor of the invasion. I was disappointed in that. I thought from the beginning that the invasion was a very very bad idea. Lots of people disagreed with me then. Not so many now. I wonder if Dennis is among them.

I guess, by your standards, I'm a "shill" for "Bush's War."

What's my name doing there? And are you irony impaired as well?

Jon Stewart just said, "I wasn't there and I don't know all the facts...but I think President Obama acted .....stupidly."
Damned liberal, left wing media!

Are those not your words? You were being ironic by citing Stewart's ridiculing of Obama as proof the media isn't liberal? You were being ironic citing Stewart's ridiculing of Obama as proof the media is actually conservative? Or you were being ironic because Stewart is actually not a representative of the media?

When Dennis Miller got his own show, he literally said he'd be giving Bush a pass. How can you do that and not be a shill? We know he made fun of Clinton, so it's not presidential respect or something.

I wasn't addressing "fail safes." There are such mechanisms in all sectors of journalism. My point is that a news anchor isn't responsible for fact checking most of the stuff they report, so they can't be called either trustworthy or untrustworthy. Whereas, a print journalist is responsible for fact checking all that they report; therefore if they aren't accurate it follows that they aren't trustworthy, and vice versa.

Well, for the "irony-impaired," do you actually beleive that the media isn't overwhelmingly liberal?

Well, to be fair, the truth tends to have a liberal bias.

There is no God watching above us disapproving of gay marriage.
Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber really are insane.
There were no weapons of mass destruction.
We really did prosecute waterboarding as a war crime when the Japanese did it.

Hasn't Colbert's phrase become hackneyed by now?

There is no God watching above us disapproving of gay marriage.

Do you think God was pulling the levers that passed Prop 8?

Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber really are insane.

The lame stream media desperately tried to hammer home that very message. Good to see that you were herded in the desired direction.

There were no weapons of mass destruction.

Even the Labor Party Prime Minister got that wrong.

We really did prosecute waterboarding as a war crime when the Japanese did it.

But we didn't hang anyone for it, contrary to Raychill Maddow's bluster.

How about Jeff Gannon, Armstrong Williams or Maggie Gallagher? Oh, that's right, they don't fit into your "ZOMG! Liberal Media" paradigm.

Fine.

Guckert was a conservative columnists given White House credentials as a reporter for two years before they tumbled to his charade. Helen Thomas has been a liberal columnist for the Hearst Newspapers since 2000 and she still sits in the front row posing as a reporter.

Armstrong Williams was/is a pundit and never a member of the press or posed as a member of the press.. But he also paid the price for the Bush White House subterfuge.

Maggie Gallagher was a syndicated columnist.

Do you have any conservative reporters who made up stories out of whole cloth?

Indubitably.

You weren't being "ironic," merely sarcastic. Which is why in post #26 I mentioned your "Damned liberal, left wing media!" comment was DOA since Stewart is not part of the media and his job is to mine comedic gold no matter who supplies it.
