The 9/11 cover-up agents have been losing big time because all these people (Willie Nelson, Jesse Ventura, Charlie Sheen, Architects for 9/11 truth, Pilots for 9/11 truth, Loose Change crew etc.) did not fall for the straw man arguments ("no plane", UFOs ...) but used hard evidence like WTC7 that nobody could really debunk other than just disputing it. Now they are back trying to mislead into confusion and divide and conquer.

It's funny when you include has beens as proof. "Charlie Sheen says so, it must be true!" "non structural engineers and cesna pilots say so, it must be true!" "failed film directors out to make a fictional movie about a conspiracy theory couldn't get financial backing so they stuck 'non-' in front of their fiction say so... it must be true!"

some guy tried to say to me that John Stewart from The Daily Show was a failed actor in an effort to discredit him, then rebuffed that I get my opinions from a "stupid comedy show" I just laughed at him with pity... "yeah, it's just a comedy show bud. you're right" i said. Who wants to have a beer with guys like SpaceMonkey??? Not me...

SpaceMonkeyZero by SpaceMonkeyZero 18 hours ago
I wouldn't have called him a failed actor.
And what is John Stewart's thoughts on your nutty conspiracy theories? I bet you'd feel like a girl dumped on prom night to hear he thinks you're nuts.

digitalhair by digitalhair 18 hours ago
I'm sorry that you got dumped on prom night, but have you seen what he covers on his show? I'm pretty sure he has enough doubt about the official story to consider you and your anti-truth cronies as members of the same group.

"Pretty sure"? Well, why don't you come up with a quote from him. Why don't you write to Comedy Central and ask him? Hell, stalk him and ask him on camera what he thinks. I just can't wait to see your disappointment.

here's a hint pal: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/08/23/daily-sho ...

now, remember that he would have no self-preservation instincts if he just came out said what he actually thought all the time on his highly successful national tv show, but this is just a tiny tiny taste of the excellent commentary that has precisely to do with how ****ed up your lack of understanding is. Also remember that his show has been a social satire about how much Americans DON'T KNOW based on how ****** our REAL MEDIA is at doing their duty to inform the American people about the corruption that goes on round the clock. By the way, do you ever watch the show? I can bet your a fan of FOX News...just guessing though.

here's another link that has a quote:

Ok, I fail to see ANYWHERE in those links that states he thinks it's an inside job. You fail.

It's obvious he's putting words into John Stewart's mouth, and as someone who may not agree with John Stewart's politics 100% (I'd put it around 40%) I have a hard time believing that his questions about the commission are of the LIHOP or MIHOP variety.

Any help responding to JS's quotes would be appreciated.

A few months ago (before the strike) they had Steve Vogel, who wrote a book on the history of the Pentagon, on the show and Stewart brought up the CTs regarding 9/11, but refered to CTers as "freaks" IIRC.

I remember that. He brought up the CTs from the perspective of "so what do you think of this crap then?"

Can I just double check, is this the host of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart or some other guy?

And how could the man once known as Mr. Leibowitz fit in the whole "truther" scene?

The Daily Show recently put their entire video archive online, so you can view the Vogel interview. Here it is on their site:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=89062&title=steve-vogel

They mention 9/11 right at the top, but the relevant part is around 4:42 or so. For the video impaired, I transcribed it:

STEWART: That brings up an interesting point. There's an awful lot of conspiracy theories. (FUNNY VOICE) The Pentagon wasn't hit by a plane! It was two men, and the government went in with chisels and hammers. And you know... (NORMAL VOICE) You saw the place.

VOGEL: Sure.

STEWART: Debunk!

VOGEL: You know, all you have to do is talk to family members who lost people on the plane. 184 people were killed that day. And once you see that reality, you don't really...

STEWART: Does that drive you nuts when people continue, because that's something that people bring up to you constantly.

VOGEL: Sure you hear it all the time. It is pretty crazy.

STEWART: But... and the reason that the building survived was because Roosevelt thought it would make a great library. And he reinforced it because he thought it would have books in it when it was done with the war.

VOGEL: Nobody could imagine they would need such a big building for the Army after the war. So Roosevelt said this would make a perfect archives, and he ordered Gen. Summerfeld to build the floors twice as strong as they should have been: 150 lbs. per square foot instead of 75. When the plane hit, there was much more strength... the columns were...

STEWART: It saved lives.

VOGEL: It saved lives, yes.

I think this pretty well confirms that Stewart is not sympathetic to the truthers.

Yes Jon Leibowitz. I know so many Johns personally, and never met a Jon, so I always forget the other spelling. My bad.

Also, I was replying to a fan of "John" Stewart who misspelled "Jon".

As I mentioned, the nuts are on both ends of the political spectrum. The anti-semite wannabe fascists, and the anti-capitalist wannabe socialists, to name a few. There are also militant atheists, as well as creepy fundie Christians among their ranks.

Obviously my memory isn't perfect, thank you for the transcript.

Given Stewart's estimation of the intelligence level of the Bush Administration, I would find it hard to believe that he believes 9/11 was an inside job. Of course, he is Jewish (from what I hear on the street) and may be a disinfo agent.

Yes the truther in question already said that Mr Stewart would never jeopardize his career by speaking his mind on the matter:
"remember that he would have no self-preservation instincts if he just came out said what he actually thought all the time on his highly successful national tv show,"

Again the truthers come out with the "He would speak up but he's scared for his career" strawman. You know... because of THEY who control MSM.

I found another one clip in the archive related to this.

This is from a story about the Ron Suskind book "The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neill".

The clip is titled "Celebrity Mole" from January 12, 2004 and its right at the top. From about 20 seconds in it goes like this:

In a new book "The Price of Loyalty," O'Neill alleges the White House was drawing up Iraqi war plans from its first days in office, six months before the September 11th attacks.

So, to the ranting lunatic at the 50th and 8th subway stop who yells that to me every morning: I tip my hat to your aluminum foil hat. (APPLAUSE) You are correct sir. My mistake. Enjoy the rest of your time with the Mole People.

So Jon Stewart considers truthers on the streets of New York to be ranting lunatics who wear tin foil hats and live underground with the mole people. Hardly sympathetic.

Stewart, Colbert, Olbermann, all anti-administration pundits whom the twoofers would die to have on their side. All the more reason why it must drive them battass crazy that none of them believe a single point their CT crap.

TAM:)

Don't forget Bill Mahar. The guy lost his job by badmouthing the administration at the beginning of the war, and he's one of the most vocal opponents of the twoofers.

Anybody who is perceived as cool is immediately claimed by the Troofers. Steven Colbert is also frequently cited as someone who "must be" hip to 9-11 nuttery.

That’s not a straw man; it’s simply circular reasoning. Counterevidence is being explained away in terms of the truth of the theory. It’s also an example of the conspiracy theorist needing to render his hypothesis unfalsifiable in order to deflect that counterevidence: If Stewart claims, on the one hand, that he supports conspiracy theories, then he supports conspiracy theories. If, on the other hand, he doesn’t claim that he supports conspiracy theories, or even if he flatly dismisses them, then he still supports them, but fears that he will be harassed, lose his job, or be subject to some other undesirable yet nebulous consequence.

Although, sad to say, Mahar has bought into "Alternative Medicine: woo bigtime, and has been spouting a lot of crap about how vaccinations are evil lately.
