ANd the National Cathedrial has it's own small security force.
I understand the National Cathedrial service will be the major service, with the actual burial service at Annapolis being much smaller.
McCain was an Episcopalan, and ,although it is very ecumenical in it's approach The National Cathediral is "administered" by the Episcopal Church. (It's design is based on Canterbury Cathedrial). So I suspect we will get a full dress formal Episcopal service.

Did I say otherwise? My objection is to ignoring the bad, not acknowledging the good. I personally don't feel that there can be sufficient good to outweigh the effects of corruption in office, but I realize I have unusually high standards for public office. I to not require someone be a veritable devil in order to find them unsuitable for further office. He wasn't the worst, no, but he was bad enough.

We have right now 90 percent of the GOP in the Senate and Congress acting entirely without principles. You'll excuse me if I decide to honor one who did...at least lately. There will be time enough in the future to measure the totality of the man.

Sorry I had a brainfart and forgot there were two bits about Palin and combined them into one in my memory. To answer your question about Palin it was pretty clear from the townhall where he had to take the mike away from the racist lady that this element of the GOP was already there and ready to come out with or without her.

But he was ambivalent about it. He might have personally despised it - I suspect it was so, but it also looked as though he thought he needed to ride the deplorables tiger to get to the presidency, hence his selection of Palin.

He's called for the flag to be flown at half staff at least twice before this for the Parkland shooting and for the Sutherland Springs shooting. On the other hand the government's been half-staffed since he was inaugurated so maybe that's how he's doing it.
