John Edwards, bad VP pick, bad prophet

Actually my disgust with the smarmy Mr. Edwards was when during the Veep debate he claimed that OIF turned Iraq into "a haven for terrorists"

As if the Army, USMC, USAF and Navy are over there fluffing pillows and bringing tea to terrorists. US combined armed forces on a battlefield are not a bloody haven. They're a meat grinder, and the terrorists are meat. Calling Iraq a haven for terrorists is like calling a Raid(tm) Roach Hotel a haven for roaches.

Edwards is an idiot....but I hope he will now find more time for his wife. :(

A. John Edwards got flack for claim that a Kerry presidency would help the lame walk again through increased and less restricted US government stem cell research funding.

Why did he get flack? Is this not one of the promises of this new technology? Is Bush particularly in favor of stem cell research funding? Does Bush strike you as someone warm to scientific progress?

B. There is this story now about cord stem cells being used to help a woman in Korea walk again. This is the exact claim that Edward made except he was wrong in that it was a cord cells and Kerry was not president.

Irrelevant. This is now, then was then.

C. Nobody thinks Edwards is a prophet. I am just making fun of the guy and trying to link item B to something else to sort of rub the guy's nose in it.

If you are going to make fun of someone, at least try to make something stick. A joke is only funny, if it has a point.

I love it when Bush supporters call other candidates 'idiots'. What's the matter, Rik? You don't like people who actually got to where they are in life through hard work and intelligence?

I qualified my opinion of him, you merely failed to really read my post. I'm sure Mr. Edwards is a smart guy,...but he didn't get as far as he did by making a habit out of making idiotic statements.

No, those statements did the opposite....they helped send him home.

Math and Science Partnerships
Last year, President Bush signed legislation that provided a total of $172.5 million ($160 million through the National Science Foundation and $12.5 million through the Department of Education) for this program in FY-02. This year, President Bush’s budget proposes increasing this commitment in FY-03 to $212.5 million ($200 million through the National Science Foundation and $12.5 million through the Department of Education).
Dr. John Marburger, Director of OSTP, discusses the Research and Development budget
Rosslyn, Va.: Besides NASA and NIH, what sorts of science projects does President Bush want to push?

John Marburger: President Bush is determined to win the war against terrorism, and he is supporting research and development related to this effort, much of it through HHS and DOD. President Bush also wants to see the nation maintain its world leadership in science and technology.

He is supporting increased investment in networking and information technology, nanotechnology, and the science infrastructure, primarily through the National Science Foundation. For example, the Spallation Neutron Source, a major tool for studying materials now under construction at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, is fully funded in the FY03 budget.

There's alot more there....I just picked the first two that came up.

Question1:
He got flack for using the death of chris reeves to bash Bush over not spending more federal dollars on embryo stem cell research. Simply tasteless and classless.

He also got flack for giving false hope to the wheelchair bound.

Question2:
Bush strikes me as someone who pursues science for military reasons only if it can be helped. Other times he seems to concede federal dollars for science only when the political cost of not doing so is high.

Here a question for you Claus. Why do you care so much about this joke of a candidate in america who I am making fun of? Honestly, John Edwards brought nothing to his ticket. He was a lightweight and ill prepared for a presidential race. He embodies the "pick a handsome face and women will show up in droves" and the "pick a guy with a southern accent and the hicks will vote him" condescending attitude these major US parties have towards we the US voters.

I find it hilarious that you are trying to imply that anyone seriously thinks he is a prophet and then "debunk" that notion as if I or anyone else having fun is serious about it.

I don't need humor lessons from you Claus. The only thing you could teach me is how to argue with Shanek in lieu of having a sex life.
