John Edward - The Real Deal?

Even if he went on CNN and declared he wasn't psychic, people wouldn't believe it.

Yes. A part of his believers would call him a psychic in denial and/or develop theories about why he suddenly denies his gift. It would create strong cognitive dissonance that often is easier resolved if they find an explanation for his apparent denial, than if they abandon their belief in him.

Again I'm reminded about James Randi's quote that believers in the paranormal are "like unsinkable ducks".
I doubt whether even an admission by Edward would turn these people away from this nonsense.

I've watched a lot of "mediums" but to me JE is the worst. He's so obviously fake. Sylvia Browne has deserved the StopSylviaBrowne website but even she is more convincing on screen. He is smug and I really do believe he knows he's onto a good thing (at the expense of his desperate and grieving victims). The editing of his show says it all and yet he's worth a fortune. I've watched him a few times where the guests sit looking bemused, frowning and shaking their heads and yet when they're interviewed at the end of the show they praise him. I saw one episode where a lady's son had committed suicide and she wanted to know if he was in limbo. During his response to her he said that when someone takes their own life they take all their pain and trouble with them. No one who's lost someone wants to hear that but yet again at the end she was so grateful to this man. Hopefully Robert Lancaster will do a great job when it comes to this man as he did Sylvia Browne. :)
