Cont: JFK Conspiracy Theories VIII

Someone I know, who was a U.S. Army infantryman when younger, visited Dealey Plaza while on a trip to Dallas. He said he was struck by how small it was, and what a perfect sniper's nest the sixth story window made for the area where the shots were fired. He said the thought that struck him most was "how could he not hit him?".
Same here.

Latest from the Skeptic Magazine:

The CIA, JFK, and the Fiction Factory: The Illusion of a Smoking Gun

Basically a debunking of the "theories"of Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, a MAGA-aligned freshman who now chairs an Oversight Committee investigation into JFK’s murder.

Summary: It was Oswald acting alone. Nothing in the new releases refutes this.

One of the first things the CIA did was run an internal audit to make sure Oswald wasn't an asset. He'd been a defector, Langley had a file on him, even read his mail. But he didn't stand out. The KGB did the same thing in the days after the assassination (that story hasn't been fleshed out yet), and they grilled every agent who had contact with him to make sure someone wasn't running a rogue operation.

And the CIA, FBI, and KGB looked hard into Oswald hoping to link him to the other side.

The files are a goldmine of Cold War skullduggery. Any history buff, anyone studying the 1950s, 60s, and 70s will find plenty of juicy information on the CIA and FBI's counter-Soviet/Castro programs in full detail. I'm about to dive into the new MLK Jr files to see how the FBI and CIA dealt with him, and James Earl Ray.

Luna is what happens when you don't have a basic grasp of history.

Re: JFK conspiracy theories, I find it bizarre that there don’t seem to be many folks who believe that Klansmen or other white supremacists were behind i. People who were angry about Kennedy’s promotion of civil rights, giving federal protection to black college students in Mississippi and Alabama, and his introduction of the Civil Rights Act in Congress in 1963 (it was ultimately passed by LBJ in 1964). Those people definitely existed and some were violent.

Kennedy was an Ivy League Catholic liberal (or at least, he was perceived to be liberal at the time)—exactly the kind of person many Southern segregationists hated. And Dallas had plenty of such types in the early 60s. Yet I see a lot more conspiratorial stuff about the CIA, Cuban exiles, the Mob, the Mossad (can’t have a conspiracy theory without the Joos)—everyone but the most obvious candidates for a conspiracy to kill Kennedy in Texas in 1963. What gives?

To be clear, I don’t subscribe to any of these conspiracy theories. Oswald did it and he acted alone. But if you HAD to believe a conspiracy theory about the JFK assassination, wouldn’t local racists be an obvious possibility?

You need to read up. Many Dallas Police officers at the time were also KKK. Their numbers vary depending on the CTist. Supposedly some of the CIA contracted trainers of Cuban exile militias were neo-Nazis. There were and are many who need to hang JFK's murder on the far right, instead of a self-styled Marxist.

And RFK was killed by a pro-Palestinian nut-job. Obviously that truth needs to be buried too,

I'm reminded of an interview I'd heard years ago with a Jewish conspiracy theorist. He basically believed in the Jewish bankers controlling the world conspiracy but just did a search and replace of "Jewish" with "Nazi". In his world the Rothschilds were Nazi's. So, I'm sure there are a few, JFK was killed by the Klan believers out there and they probably think Jack Ruby was a Klansmen.

Thing is, at the end of the day Oswald was the lone shooter. The fact some DPD officers were KKK means nothing. JFK pissed off a lot of powerful people, most good Presidents do, but in 1963 the idea of murdering the guy would have been unthinkable to those people. Why risk the electric chair when you can just defeat him in 1964? The public didn't know about his philandering, but the press knew, and much of D.C. knew. In 1963 JFK would have been destroyed politically had this been revealed to the public, especially since Jackie was universally loved. And to the elites in this country, destroying someone politically was - and is - much more satisfying, not to mention legal.

Look at how the conspiracies have evolved since 1964. After Vietnam they focused on LBJ. As we moved into the 1980s they included just about every right-wing group, Hunt Oil, the CIA/Mafia. By 1990 George Bush was behind it. And the more time passed from 1963 the more basic, and convoluted the conspiracies became as those spreading them were ignorant of US history. The fact is there were certain things that were not going to happen in 1963.

The one thing that remains consistent in US History since 1963 is losers with high powered rifles are dangerous because they come out of nowhere. You'd think with all the high-profile mass shooters we've had since 11-22.1963 that we'd have it down by now. But conspiracy sells, or these days equals "clicks".

Sad to say that the internet has made CTS easy ground because what most people "see" is believed. "everything on the internet", the authors have the internet to back them up. But the idiots on the internet are much less informed than even the CTs with all their "research", poor as it was/is. And there are a lot of grifters out there.

Hurrah for Russia!
The truth at last

My office just received word from the @RusEmbUSA that the ambassador from Russia to the United States will be hand delivering the @GovernmentRF’s findings on who assassinated JFK to my office.

This is a 350 page document.

We will be uploading these documents as soon as we receive them working with @jeffersonmorley to ensure that the American people have direct access to them immediately.

It is important to note that Congress attempted to obtain these files in the 90’s and was denied. We have been given access to them now for the first time in history.

I have received a hard copy of the report on JFK’s assassination from the Ambassador of Russia. A team of experts is enroute to my office in the morning to begin translation and full review of documents.

We will be uploading as soon as we can.

Thank you again to everyone involved to include the Russian embassy for making this happen. This is of massive historical significance.

In 3 hours, notified by Russia that propaganda would be released, committed publicly to releasing it before even reviewing its contents, then received the Russian propaganda.

US Homeland Security News
@defense_civil25
🚨Update: The Soviet KGB determined in a secret report for Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev that a conspiracy lead by Vice President LBJ executed the JFK assassination in 1963. The FBI Director and CIA was also involved!

I don't know who that "US Homeland Security News" is, but I don't think that's from the official DHS. The actual DHS website has nothing like that little nugget in their news feed that I can find, NTM that that seal up in the corner isn't the same as what DHS uses. I'm sure the conspiracy nuts will eat this up, but it seems to be pretty much the definition of "fake news." Even if there was such a "secret report" by the KGB, why in the world would anyone believe that it was anything but KGB disinformation designed to weaken the US government during an ongoing Cold War?

Anna Paulina Luna says she has the Russian secret documents and is about to make them public.

Hmm... I've heard that a lot of the USSRs files on the matter were released in the 90s. Some of which showed that the USSR was responsible for some of the early conspiracy theories because they were desperate to avoid blame.
The KGB's archivist, Vasili Mitrokin defected in 1992 with thousands of documents. Some of them showed that, while the Soviets didn't start the JFK CTs, they were happy to pile on.

The irony of this latest waste of time is that had Rep. Luna(tic) had bothered to read the JFK files in the National Archives she'd know the CIA already knew the KGB thought LBJ was behind the assassination. A fascinating side-bar to the whole thing is the defection of Yuri Nosenko in January, 1964. The CIA held him in custody for almost three years. They felt the timing of his defection was a KGB scheme to deflect suspicion away from the Soviets. To this day the CIA never fully believed Nosenko was nothing more than an elaborate red herring.
