JFK Assassination Game

I heardtell the point of the game was to try to dispel some of the conspiracy theories.

And its supposed to be more if a simulation than a game.
 
The History Channel had an excellent 2 hour documentary on the JFK assassination. The show presented pretty damning evidence that there was NO conspiracy. Oswald was a disgruntled attention seeker. It was pure coincidence that he was working at the book depository and that the Kennedy motorcade route was well advertised in the local press weeks before. Jack Ruby was another glory seeking "nobody".

Oliver Stone did a wonderful fictional supposition on the JFK killing. Stone's movie was attacked quite nicely by this documentary.

As for the Scottish game, it sounds interesting but with low playability.

Case Closed. One of the best books I ever read on any subject. Period. I couldn't put it down.

Keep in mind that Stones film was not a documentary. So accuracy is not an issue. What it was, was one of the best films of 1991.

Rouser2 has a little red light on his desk that comes on whenever somebody mentions JFK. If someone mentions "Case Closed" then a buzzer goes off as well.

Of course, then the same channel had a really bad piece last night, focusing on the "audio recording" evidence (from the dictabelt).

One guy has spent ten years studying the thing, and concludes there are 5 shots. Lots of people saying, yeah, that audio evidence could be the ticket to show the conspiracy, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But they didn't talk to a single person who says, um, its all well and good, but it wasn't Dealey Plaza during the shooting that you were listening to. The only opposing statement they made was that "some have argued that it isn't gunshots, but they are echos." And then they moved on.

Usually, when you have someone who claims to be a witness, the first thing you have to do is establish that they were at the scene of the crime. Ask the dictabelt people to show how they know that it was at the scene at the time of the shooting and you will get a lot of drooling stammers. All they will do is mumble about the probability of getting these results being too small to be anything else. Of course, that begs the question because they only tested it against activity in Dealey plaza. If, for example, the stuck mike was not in Dealey plaza, then the shot signature in Dealey plaza doesn't help much...
 
Have any of you been to Dealey Plaza? I was there a few years back and pondered some of the conspiracy theories.

1) Theory: It was an impossible shot for Oswald.

You can go to the spot and look out the window. Tough shot, yes. Impossible, no. Hitting a moving target with a rifle is tough. But what struck me was how close it was. I'd say about 100ft.

2) Grassy knoll. Wrong angle. A Grassy knoll shot would have been more from the side. Perhaps perpendicular for the last shot. The Zebruder film clearly doesn't show that. A frontal shot from the overpass would have a correct angle but I don't recall this being brought up.

If you get the chance, I'd say check it out. Good BBQ around the corner!

The best debunking program I ever saw on the JFK assassination was last year by ABC News with Peter Jennings. A 2 hour program with computer models showing exactly how JFK was seated in the limo with the Gov. of Texas in the front seat and how the "magic bullet" wasn't so magic after all. The modelling made it all so clear.
 
I was just listening to Senator Lieberman bemoaning this new JFK assassination game a few minutes ago on C-Span, believe it or not!

I suppose the timing of release of the game is no coincidence. ;)

The link in the opening post sucks. It requires some kind of membership to view. I hate that.

I'm pretty sure it's the same show. Jenning's ugly mug would pop up now and then and explain things. The computer simulation of Governor Connely turning when he hears the first shot makes perfect sense as to the "magic bullet" passing through JFK and hitting him as he was turned to his right. This was supported by the Zapruder film.

I use to live in Dallas and would visit Dealy Plaza and 6th Floor museum when friends visited.

As much as I feel it's not a conspiracy, it's still fascinating history.

The funny thing is to compare the full, careful modeling using the exact seating and body positions with the crap that idiots like Cyril Wecht pull out, where he tries to use a long rod to show the path of the bullet but has the people in the car in completely wrong positions and all facing rigidly forward.

I'm inclined to think simply doing some rational study would be enough to dispel all but the most fervent, but that's just me.

And yeah, I guessed that it's a simulation as part of a larger presentation. More provocative for some to call it a game, though, which is why it's in the news.
 
It is clear to anyone that this is a tasteless money grab. That being said it might compell the public to think more critical about conspiracy theories and consider the fact that it was a lone gunner. Movies like JFK just perpetuate the myths of a second killer, and hopefully a game like this will have some positive outcomes for the public to consider.

While I'm all in favor of tastelessness, I'd have to say the JFK thing falls under the "too soon" rule.

I can't imagine there'd be much fuss over a McKinley assassination game, though. Or one about how the Freemasons murdered Pierce and replaced him with a duplicate.
