I am just looking for some advice, or thoughts here. Over the last month or so I have seen a big upswing in the anti-Jew posts appearing on forums I belong to, with a reasonable percentage linked to 911

Now I have always been raised to be rational, and that the first person to use or threaten violence does so because they have run out of points to debate. Here is my problem, nothing boils my blood more than to hear about how the Holocaust never happened, that Jews are bad and responsible for so much in the world

I am not Jewish, and aside from a Jewish co worker, have nothing to do with them. But one of underpinnings of my moral personailty is acceptence of all people, no matter their colour creed or culture. I brought my kids up like that and try at every turn to celebrate what humanity shares, not what drives us apart.

So with my blood boiling, all I want to do is threaten physical violence to all these white supremists trash and neo-nazi people. I mean to point if I was walking down the street and saw one of these people sprouting their rubbish, I would simply walk up and hit them, no debate, no warning.

So I guess I am asking, am I letting down the principles I stand for thinking and wanting to act this way, or is it a case there really are people out there, so so low, that the only way to handle them is through the use of physical violence.

I mean sure, the obvious answer is to walk away and ignore it. Sadly in the early days, Germans thought this the best course of action, and before they knew it, lies became fact, fact became law, so many freedoms the Germans believed in where suddenly gone.

Anyway thought and coments would be appreciated, cause this has started to bug me a little lately
 
Speaking as a Jew with direct connections to the Holocaust (similar to many Jews, I would imagine) it never fails to offend. And I would have difficulty refraining from physical violence too, I concur with you.

I sometimes feel like yelling, "You want proof of the Holocaust? You want proof? IS A LETTER DESCRIBING MY UNCLE'S FINAL MOMENTS PROOF ENOUGH FOR YOU???"

But I'm not going to give them that satisfaction.
 
MG, a violent reaction is what they expect and hope for.
Look at the videos of the truthers deliberatley handling situations that they know they will be removed from, so that they can claim harrassment and censorship.

Your point about the nazis is a good one, though, so I don't really know how this can be addressed. I think the advance of media in these days may help in ensuring more word gets out to more people, to prevent a similar take-over, but, I don't know for sure.

Bigotry drives me nuts and I've never been very good at controlling my temper. Though on the other hand I am strongly opposed to countries making holocaust denial a criminal offence.

I wonder if there's a mindset thing. Many of those on the extreme right, be they BNP of other varieties of racist anti-semites, seem to be inadequate failures who like to blame their failure on someone else; the Jews, the Blacks, the Irish, the Catholics, and most of all some nefarious plot to put these groups in positions of power. Is it a huge jump for them to consider that said plotters are also responsible for all sorts of bad things?

Personally, I'm glad that in Europe there are laws to stope these arses preaching their hate. And whilst Jhunter is holding them, can I take 20 seconds for a good run-up and Gavin Hastings type kick to the nuts?
 
You may have a point there, consider the black people that blame all their failures on things white people did to their ancestors.

2. We can lock 'em up in jail for incitement to religious or racial hatred. Thank goodness.

I agree with Chill that if you respond violently, you are playing into what they want. (See! I told you those Jew lovers are nasty violent people. I was just standing there....)

My method (and I am a Jew, by the way), is to point and laugh. Hysterically. Usually others join in.

Another method is to stare for about ten minutes with a quizzical expression on your face. It's been known to un-nerve some.

Thanks every one for the responses, as a general thought, those who have the same emotional reaction as myself, also agree it is probably not the best course of action, but there is a satisfaction element hard to avoid.

I particularly like Librarylady's solution. I am thinking I would need to add the occasional comment into my lapel, followed by some nodding motions
 
MG1962 (say, do you have a 1962 MG?), I share your anger and disgust. But I agree that most of these morons would love it if someone attacked them. The best weapon against them is the truth. As long as rational people keep hounding their stupid claims with facts we will strike them where it really hurts. They'd much rather you hit them than demonstrate that they they are full of ◊◊◊◊ any day.
 
I too would love to beat the crap out of some neo-nazis. But #1..its illegal. And #2...I am better then them. If we stoop to their level..we lose. Look at what the civil rights movement did. Not one shot was fired..and they ended a system of racism and hatred that had existed for 100 years. Violence only breeds violence, its been proven time and time again. Non-violent protest...only breeds justice. Neo-Nazis and even some 9-11 Deniars may deserve the butt wuppin of a lifetime..but that doesn't mean it is the right nor strategicly productive thing to do.
