JESUS....my Friend.

Today my wife and kids went to church. They are catholics.

Is the beginning of The Holy Week. Is how catholics make a meditation about Jesus life. There are some rituals related to this week.

I am not identificated with an specific religion, but I try to respect the beleifs of the persons in this non-unanimous (...) subject.
I guess I am a type of pantheist (...) and try to love every single atom of this universe.

About Jesus: I consider him my friend.
I don't pretend to debate about his existence, beleifs, etc.

Sometimes he helped me just remembering his atributed words.
I think those words are useful to know us a little more.

I have more friends of that type , yes, it doesn't matter if they are part of another age and time and history. It doesn't matter if I did not know them personally. I consider them , my friends.

Do you have those "kind" of friends?

Thanks,
S&S

P.S.

Jesus, I love you.

I told Jesus I loved him once.

He smiled at me, stroked his hand though my hair, and looked into my eyes.

I wrapped my arms around him, and then we... we... we kissed.

One thing led to another and before I knew it we started having sex.

He was rough, for my first time. I told him to be gentle but he wouldn't! I bled for five days after that.

Every single atom? LOL. A pantheist, huh?

So it doesn't have to exist to be your friend?

Oh, you think he existed and still talks to you. You are a christian not a pantheist.

Nope, sorry, all of my friends actually exist. I stopped having nonexistent friends when I was about 8, and then I only had one invisible friend.

Hi Dark Cobra:

Posts like yours don't bring any kind of benefit to the skeptical society. Not to the JREF either.

Posts like yours only demonstrate your personal problems.
We all know your problems with your mother about the religious subject. I hope you are working on it.

Maybe a post like "Randi is my friend , his words helped me a lot to know me and to know mankind " would be more nice and polite.

This is not a thread about me or about Jesus.
I know you are a smart kid . Try again.

Thanks,
S&S

Yes , every single atom including yours. Laugh more now.
Well, just a kind of pantheist , is more defined with my thoughts and principles.

I have his atributed words. Is enough for me.

Be nice with your invisible friend.

He's right DC, you shouldn't have........oh wait this isn't R&P.

Never mind

I like the fact that I am priveledged to have several fine friend-
ships. Many have spanned several years. If they have a common
human decency about them, I don't care what they believe. I care
about how they treat me and how they treat others. I have always had aetheist friends, but I also have friends that are believers. We all meet on some common ground. Sometimes
a sense of humor, interest in the same type of art, etc.

It is difficult, if not impossible for me to imagine Jesus as a friend. It just isn't my foundation. But how lonely life would be if
I only allowed others into my life that had the exact same belief
system. My friends are too important to exclude over something
that is just one compartment of their life.

If you do win James Randi's one million dollars the first thing you need to buy is a sense of humour.

Hi Kelving G:

Is that sense of homour I need , really expensive?

I assume you find Dark Cobra post very funny.
I assume you have a cheap sense of humour.
Laugh again:

Good for him.

It's like Franko calling Muscleman a troll.

Sorry Dark Cobra. They put you in that category.
And difficult to define (even to the JREF!!).

I hope you can handle.

Yes, I find Dark Cobra's post very funny. I'm sorry you do not, but different strokes for different folks I guess.
I've always enjoyed low brow humour myself.
I don't know about anyone else, but I find the idea of Dark Cobra getting sodomized by Jesus very funny.
I am indeed proud of Dark Cobra.
Yes, good for him.

No I didn't, you didn't understand the analogy.

Carlos, there's a few historical figures that interest me a lot, and I would have liked to have had as friends. There are quite a few fictional characters that I'd like to have had as friends as well. I'd have loved to hang out in Rivendell with Elrond and the guys.

I don't consider them as friends, however. They do provide inspiration in my life. I occasionally find myself thinking "What would Ghengis do?" (normally when some scum cuts me off in traffic)

I found Dark Cobra's post to be funny, but then, I don't have any emotional attachment to the christian mythos.

Ewww.. Gross, keep your hands off of my atoms.

Well, just a kind of pantheist , is more defined with my thoughts and principles.

Yes, keep them beliefs dynamic, then they cannot be defined or falsified. We've seen your type of "religion" many times before here.

I have his atributed words. Is enough for me.

Does the same go for Peter Pan?

As I wrote I am not pretending to debate in his existence or in yours beleifs.

I realize you aren't debating about the existence of jebus, you simply want to assert that this character actually existed. You won't debate it because you know there is no evidence to support your position.

I assume you don't think he existed. Where did you read I talked with him? And yes, Jesus is part of this Universe.

LOL. Jesus is as much a part of the universe as Mickey Mouse is, they are fictional characters. And reading the fiction of the bible, I really don't understand why anyone would call Jebus a friend. Jebus preached to hate everyone but him, Jebus preached to hate the Jewish people, Jebus was racist and obviously not an animal rights advocate. You picked a strange mythical hero to admire.

You can be "friends" with mythical characters all you want, it only shows your insanity.

I grew up as an only child. Mom was kind of cold, and Dad was usually out at sea (Navy). At one stage, I developed imaginary friends. They listen to me, play games, and they were always there for me. They weren't real, they were just the product of a sad, lonely little girl's mind. My Mom would be very indulgent and say she liked my friends.
I sort of treat christians the way Mom treated me.
