I just realized something about this...

Jesse Ventura was a Navy SEAL and Governor of Minnesota. Therefore, he has good credentials to say that the WTC buildings were brought down by means other than impacts and fire.

By Tweeter's reasoning:

George W. Bush was a fighter pilot and Governor of Texas and two-term President of the United States. Therefore, he must have even better credentials to say that the WTC buildings were brought down by impacts and fire.

A self-debunking appeal to authority. Neat.

George H. W. Bush believes that OBL carried out 9/11. He's appeared on Larry King, is a former Naval Aviator (the youngest at the time) who saw combat in WWII and former President of the United States (among other publicly elected and appointed offices he's held). Since the SEALs didn't exist when he served, he has equal (IMO better) credentials.

So what was your point?

I guess one out of the two would then disqualify Ventura as an authority on 911?

Ventura was not a SEAL. He was in Team 12, a UDT unit. His Navy Enlisted Classification was 5321s. A SEAL would have a 5326s. Ventura would have had to serve in a SEAL Team for six months before qualifying as a "26." He also has no record of ever seeing combat as either a UDT or SEAL.

i think it comes down to a matter of book smarts vs street smarts, obviously a SEAL needs to be able to think on his feet and react quickly, but obviously doesnt need to calculate the arc length and velocity when he throws a grenade at something

So by using your logic then the people that call Bush a moron should in fact call him a genius since he flew jets. I think you have to be slightly smarter to fly jets than sit in freezing water.

I served in the late 80's to the mid-90's and served in a unit "similar" as "The Body" did. Trust me mental midgets come are in all branches and units in the Military regardless of the MOS. Mush like in the civilian world.

I have a lot of respect for Jesse for his Military servce but outside of that, he's a loon.
 
I hear Ventura may team up with Ron Paul to run as independants for the 2008 US election. That will be interesting to watch. Makes a change from the usual boring polititions waffling on about nothing of importance!

Just because you don't understand the issues doesn't mean they are of no importance.

By the way, it's only a rumor, though I would like it to be true. It'd be worth at least a few laughs.

Apparently you were out to lunch when Ron Paul announced he would NOT run as a independent a few weeks ago.
For him to change his mind now would kind of wreck his whole image of not being a liar like all the other politcians....

I remember my brother-in-law explaining this to me about Ventura one time, because he was tired of Jesse always throwing around the SEAL claim.
