If you Google "voice morphing software" there are over 191,000 results. What the military industrial complex has is often 30 years ahead of what is on the market. Voice Morphing would be of tremendous value in war time, to confuse the enemy with orders seeming to come from their superiors. It would be stupid not to develop it. As I recall, people who made calls from the planes on 9/11 used verbal tics known to the people they were calling. Which would require the conspirators to actively have studied them - and others that didn't make the faked calls - for months on end. Which means another few hundred people to add to the conspiracy.

Oh, and appeal to magic.

You would like to, but you can't. In the heat of battle, if a platoon leader hears his CO's voice say "go left", he probably will and could go right into a trap. How is that an "impossibility"?

You pulled that out of your rear. There's such a thing as "radio discipline" for situation precisely like this.

There are many other situations where voice morphing would be extremely useful in the war on drugs. A drug dealer could get a call from a "customer" to meet him someplace, to get arrested. Lack of imagination is no reason something is impossible.

You have no affirmative evidence such technology was available to anyone on 9/11.

But irrefutably, in 1991, the Washington Post published this article on Voice Morphing developed at the Los Alamos Laboratory. So the military has had VM for 12 years - and that's just the unclassified version. Classified technology is often 20 years in advance of what is on the market.

I note that you've shifted from "30 years ahead" to "20 years ahead". This ain't Enemy of the State, pal. Of course, being able to fake someone's voice with prep time (not in real time) is quite different from being able to fake a conversation in real time. Unless, as I mentioned, they actively scouted the people who'd be making the fake calls. And as Lenbrazil mentioned, the article was clearly from 1999. When you can't even get that right, why should we trust you?

Also, the FBI testified in the Moussaoui trial that the alleged phone call about the box cutters by Barb Olson had a duration of zero seconds. Your argument fails, but you gave it a try, like a good little gullible Truster.

Assume they don't work. Why would the FCC ban them? Possibly because passengers might try to use them anyway, and the resultant microwaves might interfere with onboard electronics.

That would be a reason for the FAA to ban them (which it hasn't), not the FCC.

The FAA, however, supports the FCC ban because of the possibility, however unlikely, of interference with the aircraft's systems.
