Jaycee Lee Dugard, did Sylvia comment on this and if so how wrong was she?

With the case of Jaycee Lee Dugard (Link) who was held captive for 18 years making headlines around the world, it seems apt to start asking the obvious questions concerning Sylvia Browne (& any other psychics who might have gotten involved in the case).

1. Did she make any predictions to the parents either on Montel Williams or through some other forum?

2. What predictions were made?

3. How close were they to the reality that is now being revealed?

I throw the thread open for discussion...

The psychic in that article bills herself as "One of the few psychics living today that can demonstrate her ability on stage as well as in person with compassion, and precision."

Surely, then, winning $1M should be an easy task.

From the description in the article the 'predictions' were no different from reasonable guesses.

As for the 'prediction' the girl would be found safe, that's a 50/50 chance of being right.

Had she turned up dead, would we be hearing from this psychic, I think not.

It might make an interesting research topic to run down as many psychic 'predictions' as can be found for this case & see if there is indeed a 50/50 split on the dead/alive question.

This was the only psychic I found on Google.

As far as Sylvia Browne, in 1991 I think she was still doing People Are Talking regularly with Ann Fraser and Ross McGowen. If she made predictions we could somehow track, that might be a likely place to find them. Not sure when she started as a regular on Montel. Does anyone know?

I've had no success trying to find any of her old People are Talking shows but perhaps there is a way someone else might know of.

The kidnapper and Sylvia may have know each other. ;) They were in the same business. From the New York Times article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/28/u...l=1&adxnnlx=1251475335-2Y/nsqsEjdGwzyyy51BjAQ

In a posting on a blog associated with the God’s Desire church, Mr. Garrido (the kidnapper) told of his ability to control sound.
“I Phillip Garrido have clearly demonstrated the ability to control sound with my mind and have developed a device for others to witness this phenomena,” he wrote. “I have produced a set of voices by effectively controlling the sound to pronounce words through my own mental powers.”

I couldn't find anything about Browne making a prediction, but wouldn't rule it out. However, without being able to look at microfilm of those local papers it's hard to say.

With google news archive, I found one story about a psychic and Jaycee Dugard. The citation is: KIDNAP CASE STALLS AFTER 2 WEEKS TAHOE-AREA INVESTIGATION, Sacramento Bee, Jun 26, 1991

I remember this case painfully well, considering how young my boys were at the time.

I don't remember if Sylvia Browne was in on it, but there was a frightening host of "psychics" who were offering (pandering?) their services to this kid's family. IIRC, South Lake Tahoe authorities were almost swamped with these idiots and their predictions, though they'd have been a hell of a lot more help if they'd gotten off their ****ing asses and joined in the search. Chances are Garrido and his pervy wife might have been caught before he'd started raping her.

At times like this, I could wish there was a Hell...

I also recall this case well, as I was living near South Lake at the time. I don't recall Browne being one of those who offered her 'services'. I also don't recall the case receiving much national attention at the time-mostly Northern Calif. and Nevada. Sylvia does seem to prefer the "big" cases-usually in retrospect.

I also agree, I wish there was a Hell, except Garrido wouldn't roast in there fast enough to suit me.

From the yahoo link:

Despite repeated claims to the contrary, there is not a single documented case of a missing person being found or recovered due solely to psychic information.
