I find it worrisome that his death gets so much news coverage considering it was a suicide, which are known to cause copycat suicides. But what can one expect, it's the same media that keeps broadcasting footage from 9/11 and other disasters, despite all the traumatized people who suffer emotionally because of this.
Yesterday, Talk Of The Nation had two guys on who were supposed to be discussing Jackson's "legacy". They got into a shouting match over who was more influential; Jackson or Elvis Presley.
Any evidence Jackson committed suicide?
Sharpton tells Jackson kids: 'nothing strange about your daddy'

Suicides cause suicides. Celebrity suicides cause even more suicides.Wait... what?

Suicides cause suicides. Celebrity suicides cause even more suicides.
What part of that wasn't clear?

Norway has a strong journalistic code against mentioning suicide in the news. That seems to be the impetus for Safe-Keeper's complaint, but the odd thing is that the word suicide isn't being mentioned in the press coverage of Jackson's death. Now if, he had in fact committed suicide, then I'd say the media are following the Norwegian model very closely, so then Safe-Keeper should have nothing to complain about then. I think it will turn out that it was the Diprivan that did him in. Stupidity? Definitely. Suicide? Doubtful. People get themselves killed due to stupidity or ignorance all the time, but these are not classified as suicides.

While the real Elvis certainly had that effect, if we didn't have Elvis, we would have had to invent him. Some other "Elvis" would have had the same effect and many other Elvises did. He was a major contributor, but not the only one.Elvis made Michael Jackson possible. By that I mean, Elvis helped make "black music" aka rock and roll acceptable to whites in a pre-civil-rights era America. Without Elvis, the white audience for Michael Jackson would have been a tougher build, and without a white audience, Michael Jackson would have been a specialty music act as opposed to a global sensation.
Elvis:No debate. The guy changed the course of popular music. Rock, the dominent pop music for the last 50 years was pretty much founded by Elvis.
Jackson was talented, but you cannot say the same about him.
