Just when you think the limit has been reached, another daft statement is made by a homeopath.

Todays homeopath is : Wim Pardaan

http://homeopathyforums.hpathy.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1702&PN=1&TPN=2

for saying:

If a symptom is a pure subjective symptom then it is one which the patient alone can feel and express, one which the homeopath/doctor etc. can neither see, hear etc. So it`s a bit difficult to check in some cases, if the disease-symptom is really cured, especially in those patients who don`t admit their improvements, which sometimes happens !

emphasis mine

How many more ways do they contort the situation to claim a cure ?

This poor little thread is sadly unreplied-to. I think it's because we're all just struck dumb or something.

:hb:

Rolfe.

Yeah, for perfectly subjective symptoms (e.g. pain) some people may fake, for various reasons. But I'd like to see someone fake a rectal temperature.*

* No, I wouldn't want to see it, as in observe, but you know what I mean.

I can just imaginbe the exchange in Wim's consulting room.

You're cured.

But I still feel just the same.

Never mind that, you're cured.

But....

He says he treats animals too. I wonder how often they won't admit they're better? Or is it just these attention-seekng owners who won't accept the good news?

Rolfe.

You realize that means that you have a low degree of susceptability... it says so here:

Now I understand there are differences in language... but I thought the Dutch were in the 21st century when it came to Deaf Culture (note: I am presently finishing reading the book Seeing Voices by Oliver Sacks, so I kind of keyed into this thread).

The parrot isn't dead, he's just refusing to admit that he's no longer pining for the Fjords.

Who would win in a fight, a dead parrot or a penguin on top of a TV set?

If the homeopath refuses to admit that there’s nothing in the water I see no reason for the patient to admit he’s improved.

Or perhaps this is a double-Homeopathic result. Since the remedy has been diluted to the point it’s only water but has a ‘memory’ of a substance, perhaps the patient has indeed been cured and now is only plagued with the ‘memory’ of his problem.

OK, if I fully accept that at face value the inverse must be true also .... even if it is a logical fallacy.

How do they identify and deal with patients who claim they've improved when they haven't? I mean that would really muck their stats up!

It might muck up their stats (what stats do they collect?!), but it won't muck up their bank balance, so I believe an ancient homeopathic principle kicks in: take the money and run.

It certainly is a lucrative position to take.

If the patient feels better, they’re cured!

If the patient doesn’t feel better, aw hell, they’re still cured!

Check or cash?
