Arie Deri was the minister of interrior, he was caught taking a bribery and was found guilty. He spent time in jail. Then went back into politics, serves as the head of his party and the minister of interrior (the same office) and now they are charging him again for tax fraud for stuff he did in office - completely new charges on additional stuff he did after he went to jail.
I'd easily put money that even if he goes to jail a second time, he'll be back.
Sadly, the Israeli public isn't so quick to exclude corrupted politicians. Back in the 70s (I think?) we had a guy who knew he was caught red handed and killed himself. Today...? Not so much.
All 5 previous prime minsiter had shady illegal dealings (though only 1 went to jail for it).
Heck, we currently have 4 other MKs other than Netanyahu who face criminal charges for various things.
Sadly, everytime there is a charge brought up people are quick to assume there's some stupid conspiracy going on trying to kick them out of office.
