Israeli extremists to burn Obama in effigy

if the israeli govt. allows these people to burn our President in effigy, we should re-think our $2 billion in aid to the Jewish State.

Just like the Islamo-fascists do in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, etc.

Perhaps Israelis will be showing their true nature, this coming holiday.
This might be an ur-Semitic habit passed along by the no-shellfish gene.

1. It's a bit more than that.

2. You are better off writing to your Congressman and Senators on that matter. When doing so, make sure to spell out why an American government should chastise a foreign government for allowing and protecting politicial speech and protest.

3. If anti-American sentiment spreads far and wide in Israel, which your link does not provide evidence for, there is every reason for our Congress to reassess how and why American funds ought, or ought not, be dispersed there.

well, if the police quickly extinguish any Obama effigys set aflame, and arrest anyone who does this for public arson, I'll be happy.

but just imagine even a small crowd of Israelis dancing around a burning effigy of Obama. that would be very bad for Israeli-American relations.

hate our President, hate his ideas, hate his policies. But do NOT burn him in effigy. that can be seen as a call for assassination.

Perhaps I'm not seeing this from your perspective, but what does this have to do with the Israeli government? The Israeli government made it clear they do not condone anything this group stands for or does.

An extremist, outlawed, domestic terrorist organization is spreading propaganda.

well, the Israeli govt. also does not condone the construction of illegal settlements in the WB, without any construction or building permits. yet they lend a blind eye to such work, and have been dragging their feet for years to take down these settlements.

officially opposing illegal settlements and burning Obama in effigy is one thing....how they deal with such behavior...is another.

we shall see how the govt. and police deal with such behavior very soon.

Apples and oranges. Kach could be compared to our version of a domestic terrorist group, such as the Ku Klux Klan or Neo-Nazis. Not sure how settlement disputes would fit in this issue.

Local Israeli police would be better suited for an initial response if it gets out of hand.

If an allied state permits some extremists to exercise their freedom of speech in a way that offends us, the state should be severely punished! We should never meddle in internal affairs of any state that doesn't permit free speech, though, because it only gives them a reason to hate us more.

Source? You claim that illegal settlements and outposts aren't torn down, while in fact its a usual occurrance in the WB, same with those in Jerusalem. Either source this or stop making this claim....

Oh dear, foot in mouth:

Obama effigy found hanging from campus tree

Obama Effigy Doll Hanged In Plains Georgia

Obama Effigy: Political Speech or Hate Speech?

Just as a note, I don't condone this type of behavior because its not constructive. However, assuming that its something of a trend restricted to and new in Islamic countries or in Israel simply goes to show that Parky lives in a bubble and doesn't know what's happening in his own back yard. Doh!

I would definitely put more of an emphasis on the lynching of an effigy in Southern states in the US that the burning of an effigy anywhere else.

Or the far left ;)

not only do many illegal outposts remain, but Israel is considering giving many of them retro-active permits for construction. such does not show great comtempt for law breaking...by the govt.

but this is for another thread.

you consider the call for the assassination of our President, to be a simple act of freedom of speech??

i bet your views would be slightly altered..if this was Bush or Reagen.

I can see there are no shades of grey where you live. Burning an effigy of anyone is call for assassination? It is distasteful, perhaps. Could it lead to other things violent? Yes it could. Regardless of your opinion though, effigy (and flag) burning is a symbolic form of freedom of speech when it concerns the US Supreme Court. They are protected regardless of how lowly anyone thinks they are.

Alittle off-topic though, my apoligies. I'm rather glib when it comes to knowing Israel's laws on citizens burning other countries effigy's.

#1. Israel is not the USA and is not governed by the US Constitution.

#2. The USA is under no obligation to be friendly to countries that allow its people to make violent threats against our leaders.

What if they are correct in what they are doing?
Tell me why they are wrong.

Let me tell you why they are not wrong. Obama made some big speech in Egypt (I think) shortly after taking office praising all the wonderful things Islam has done for mankind and history. Too bad everything he said was not true.

It is also too bad he probably never read the Qu'ran. If he had, he would regret making this speech.

So, yeah, I think the Israelis are right. Tell me why you think they are wrong. I am sorry, I know we are all supposed to hate Israel. It is kind of the way we all have to jump on the bandwagon de'jour. But I don't buy it.
