Israeli actions make anti-Semitism worse

First...they instate an embargo on Gaza that only allows in enough food and medicine to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

Next...they start the attacks on Gaza.

Then...they bomb a mosque.

Then..they attack the American University.

And now...they hit a school. But not just any school..but the UN school.

Lets be honest folks. When Israel does something bad...it worsens people's views of Israel..and by extension the Jews. Its the same thing with the USA, with Britain, with China, etc. When Israel does something good, negative feelings against Israel and the Jews are relaxed. Its just how human beings work.

But, of course the Israeli government, and right-wing Zionists will argue again and again that:

"anti-Semitism existed before Israel and Zionism existed. There is nothing Israel does or does not do that makes anti-Semitism more popular..or less popular. We could murder every single Palestinian child in Gaza and if anti-Semitism increases after that..its not our fault. We could exile every Palestinian to Jordan and if anti-Semitism increases after that..its not our fault"

Well, Israel and right-wing Zionists, I am very sorry, but what Israel does CAN indeed make anti-Semitism worse. And today's actions and the actions of the last week, have indeed made more people not like Jews..and made already existing anti-Semitism a little worse.

Thanks A LOT!!!!!!

Should Israel only take into consideration whether people will like them before they act?

Emphasis mine.

You're right. The only issue with Israel, and with Jews in general, is how negative you feel about them. Most of the world would feel very comfortable answering the following poll:

"How much do you hate the Jews?"
  • Only a little
  • A moderate amount
  • A whole lot
"All the world hates the Jew, and will not endure him, except when he is rich." -- Satan (as channelled by Mark Twain, in Letters From the Earth)

I think people over estimate how much Jews are hated as being from the "other" side. Frankly one of my very good friends is an Orthodox Jew and she and her boyfriend told me that they vote in every election for what's good for Israel. So to me its like screw the states, they could care less, they are voting for their own other country. Additionally when someone is Jewish and becomes sort of exlusionary to other groups, its weird. Like try eating out with orthodox jews, they only eat at Kosher places and those are few and far. I was pretty shocked to be driving around trying to find a Kosher joint at 10 pm in Midwood Brooklyn. I thought there'd be tons of them.

Basically this wee strip of land is pissing off a lot of people because we're sick of the fighting and the "he started it" mentality.

My friend says the people lived in fear of Hamas. But the bombs lobbed over the walls didn't seem to hurt too many people. Israel kills hundreds of people and expects sympathy.

Sometimes I really wish someone would just drop a bomb on Israel and be done with it. I'm sick of it already.

I know I know.... wrong of me I know.

Let me see if I have this straight. It's OK to hate the Jews because of the attack on Gaza. Is that right??? Well then I guess it's OK for me to hate the Muslims because of 911. Is that right?? Where are the Hatfields and McCoys when you need an answer.

How many people does your enemy have to kill before you can retaliate? 500? 200? More than 3? Tell me, what's the number? 42?

Oh and Yes, it is wrong of you. It makes you a bigot. Nice job.

I don't think people "hate the Jews' because of the attacks on Gaza. I think people hate the idea that they have a right to kill hundreds of innocent people in retaliation to a small bombs being lobbed over the walls.

Just like we hate Americans for killing thousands of innocent civilians in the war in Iraq.

I hate the idea of punishing innocent people by embargoing Gaza so that what they need can't get in, when its well known that many are at the mercy of Hamas.

Hate the idea of justifying it all the time.

My friend, and I quote:

"Hamas just kills innocent people. But Israel actually sends warnings saying "we're going to bomb this building, stay away" if the Palestinians are so stupid that they go into the building anyway then I'm sorry they deserve to die."

Uh yeah, hate that. But that's got nothing to do with being Jewish, and everything to do with being an elitist pig.

Yes, it's 42. That's the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Oh and Yes, it is wrong of you. It makes you a bigot.
True, that.

I don't think people "hate the Jews' because of the attacks on Gaza.
That's true, truethat. People hate the Jews just because. The vast majority of the world would hate the Jews no matter what they did that didn't involve mass suicide.

I think people hate the idea that they have a right to kill hundreds of innocent people in retaliation to a small bombs being lobbed over the walls.
So it's okay to lob small bombs at Jews, as far as you're concerned? Jews should just grin and bear it when someone tries to kill them?

Please let me know when you plan to be anywhere near my family so I can make sure we are all well-armed. Also, please PM me a photograph so we can tell what you look like. We hate surprise attacks.

I hate the idea of punishing innocent people by embargoing Gaza so that what they need can't get in, when its well known that many are at the mercy of Hamas.
Do you hate the idea of embargoing Nazi Germany in WW II? Japan? Do you hate the idea that Lincoln ordered a blockade of the seceding states during the American Civil War? Do you hate the idea that General Grant laid seige to Vicksburg, Mississippi during that war, reducing the people there to eating rats?

If you start a war with your neighbor, you have to be prepared for your opponent to do things that will be bad for your people. If you don't want bad things to happen to your people, don't start a war. If you do start a war, don't complain if it turns out your opponent is better at it than you are.

I think what I'm addressing which people are quick to call bigot and whatnot in typical overly emotional hand wringing, is that most people don't hate Jews. Most people are just sick and freaking tired of the fighting.

If they dropped a bomb on Israel tomorrow it wouldn't just kill the Jews would it?

Its a tiny strip of land that makes no sense. Obviously there's more to this story if all the Arab countries in the world can't snuff out the army there? Not making too much sense to me.

I love religious traditionalists in a lot of ways, and I adore the way education is revered in the Jewish culture. So I'm not hating on the Jews. I'm just tired of Israel and all the fighting. I don't care any more. I think a lot of people feel this way.

My friend who gets so het up and angry and mad about the poor Jews also has a tendency to say that Africans are beneath them intellectually as studies have shown and point out that God is watching out for Israel which is why its still there. So um.......my sympathy is a tad thin at this point.

Should Israel only take into consideration whether people will like them before they act?

They should take into consideration that Palestinians are people too. That they have their own religion, beliefs, and culture that they wish to preserve. The Palestinians need to consider the same for the Israelis.

When Israel does something good, negative feelings against Israel and the Jews are relaxed. Its just how human beings work.
Emphasis mine.

Yeah, I noticed that part too. He didn't say "When Israel does something good, good feelings about Jews rise", no because apparently there can't be good feelings about Jews to begin with.

So negative feelings towards Jews are the natural sine qua non position, they can only be heightened or "relaxed"... Why do you accept this Parky?

If they dropped a bomb on Israel tomorrow it wouldn't just kill the Jews would it?

Its a tiny strip of land that makes no sense.
So are Gaza and the West Bank, AKA Palestinia. Why do you save your hostility for Israel?

You can try to sell your line that "some of my best friends are Jews," but we ain't buying.

So I'm not hating on the Jews. I'm just tired of Israel and all the fighting. I don't care any more. I think a lot of people feel this way.
No doubt, many people do wish the Jews would stop fighting the people who are trying to kill them. The Final Solution is much more complicated when they fight back! Why won't they just sit back and take it?

Well when I say Israel I mean the West Bank Gaza etc the whole shebang. Nuke it. Bet no one will complain. Its just been years of fighting.

Oh and btw the whole "Some of my best friends crap" is a joke. I don't have Best friends. People who do are immature sops in my opinion. I know a broad range of people and am privy to different perspectives including Jews and Muslims. Muslims seem to play the victim acting like they have no choice to resort to these tactics because they have no other way of defending themselves. Jews use the "we need to take preemptive measures to protect ourselves" yadda yadda yadda

I have several friends who live in Rehobeth who say the media hype over does it, and that the bombings in Israel are no more drastic that car accidents or gun play in inner cities in the US. So meh?

I'm just tired of hearing about it. And my point is, that if the Arab countries wanted to take out Israel why haven't they done it already? To me there's more to the story than meets the eye. I find it hard to believe that Iraq, Iran, Saudi, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirites couldn't either support the Palestinians into wealthy excess or tromp out the Jews if they really wanted to, so call me cynical.

For someone who doesn't care you sure have an extreme solution.

I can prevent a car accident by driving defensively. I can avoid inner city gunplay by not joining a violent street gang. What is one supposed to do to protect himself from a Palestinian terrorist? Live in a bomb shelter and never leave?

They tried and failed on 3 seperate occasions. Then a funny thing happened, Israel became a member of the nuclear weapons club. By sheer coincidence, I'm sure, all those states who were so offended at having a Jewish state on Muslim land decided a direct attack was no longer in their interests.

So instead they fight a proxy war by exploiting the Palestinians to their own ends.

And here you are, appalled that those Jews dare defend themselves from the rocket and mortar attacks they had to endure nearly every single day.

I'm not "appalled at the Jews" ? Go find another soap box to get up on. In case you missed it, the world has been affected by this stupid strip of land that for decades has been blowing each other and anyone who gets close, into smithereens and no one gives a damn any more. I don't care who wins. For me as an atheist the whole thing is stupid because I think Christian fundies are trying to jump start armeggedon, and the temple and the mosque and yadda yadda. If it wasn't the "Holy Land" it would be done and over with already.

But feckign religion.

If someone hates jews more because they defend themselves, the problem is with the anti-semite and not with the jews.

The more you write, the more it becomes apparent that "the lady doth protest too much".

If you're an Israeli, that "tiny strip of land" as you call it is their country and their home. You are upset hat they are fighting to keep it theirs. You apparently don't think they should do anything when their neighbor attacks it.

Other parts of the world are engaged in longer and bloodier conflicts, but it is this one you are upset about. And you're an atheist with no dog in this fight you claim? Then why is it this particular conflict that has your undies in a knot?

Is there any other country in the world you feel doesn't have the right to defend itself from enemies who have vowed to destroy it?

Maybe I'm entirely ignorant on this but I wasn't aware that Gaza was another country? Off to check it out.

Oh I just noticed the Israeli flag there so who is the fanatic.

Plain and simple of course Israel or any country has a right. But then SOLVE the damn thing already. The fact that it causes so much drama and het up frustration and the Zionists to Hamas the arabs hate you, your children are taught that Arabs aren't people, the Arabs teach the same thing to their kids. Etc etc etc

Funny because my husband is from Cyprus which has the exact same situation going on in it. And funny...........no wars and bombs and fighting. They are seriously trying to sort it out.

So what's the difference? The holy land. Pardon me as an atheist who thinks its stupid. But I do. Maybe you care about the holy land but I don't.
