Unfortunately he's right. Europeans could have offered some (provisional) help, as long as the U.S. helps them protect what they can send (maybe minesweaper). Just so that Trump can't say 'See, they won't help me, bla bla...'. The outright refusal was shortsighted, probably with regards to their constituency, but still shortsighted and might bite them in the ass.

Why? Trump would have behaved exactly the same and still found ways to blame his failures on everyone but him and his cronies, would still try to stop help to Ukraine and would still try to make Europe pay for the privilege too. Sucking up the last year has shown that Trump's gratitude lasts 0.001 seconds before he finds something else to rant about.

The rescue of the pilot gets so much more interesting when you realize he apparently walked about 110 miles in a single day to get to the rescue site from the crash sight and other pilot.
They built their forward base about 40 miles from Isfahan’s uranium tunnels, not near the pilot who was 160 miles south.
Hundreds of special operators, SEAL Team 6, Little Birds, CIA with “unique capabilities”, Black Hawks, and two C130s that mysteriously couldn’t take off again.
I think it was an attempt to try and get the uranium.

Interesting, can you link to any resources? I am dubious, but accept this is possible. It might explain Trump being so enraged.
I don’t buy the 110 miles a day. 110 kilometers a day is doable at a pretty fast walking pace,, but even then it would require little if any sleep and the need to carry water. Maybe it’s a reporter misunderstanding kilometers for miles.

Not always, but a lot of the time it is. Trump is now saying that if he doesn't get a deal he will "blow up everything over there." (his exact words). How is this not a war crime? Oh yeah, I forgot - this isn't a war - even though Trump himself says it is.
BTW he doesn't have to actually do it to make it terrorism. The US has proved that it has the capability, so just the threat is enough. He blames the Iranian people for their government not capitulating, and is threatening them with being 'bombed into the stone ages', so the promise to blow up 'everything' takes on a meaning beyond military targets. There is nowhere Iranian civilians can go to be safe from this threat, which heightens the terror aspect. That's why it's called terrorism.
When this is all over the war apologists are going to have no legs to stand on, same as after Vietnam. Some people have forgotten that war, but most of us older people haven't. The US now has yet another immoral war to hang their head in shame over.

Here's the thing: We have no official statement other than this:
The "details" are coming fourth and fifth-hand. Some are back-engineering the photos of the destroyed aircraft. Others are quoting sources who at best have seen video footage of parts of the mission. Keep in mind that the units involved are not talking to anyone, and their commands are not talking to random civilians. Everything we've heard about this mission must be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Odds are Trump and or Pete H will blab about it, or demand videos be public before they're sanitized. My guess is USSOCOM is taking its time getting the videos transferred to the Pentagon for self-preservation of in-theater assets. We'll know way too much by Wednesdy.

NATO is an Alliance - if you are not attacked, you discuss joined engagement BEFORE you start bombing places.
