ANd how many of the politicians involved in the decisions that led to the housing shortage were Muslim? Or even immigrants? In the case of Spain we´ve just had 8 years of supposedly leftist government (PSOE) so you can´t really blame it on the right. It´s a debated issue at the moment, there seems to be many reasons:
-High price and lack of real state (long bureaucratic hurdles to blame for much of it),
-higher and higher costs of building (more strict building regulations to blame for some of it),
-lack of government investment (the current PSOE government promised 250.000 new public houses and less than a quarter of that got built) etc.
-Lately there´s talk that the real reason behind the lack of building is that the Spanish electrical network is barely capable to supply energy to current buildings and newly built housing areas are left without electricity for a long long time and can´t be used. So when investors see their built houses languish, waiting to be connected to the electrical network for years, and can´t sell them and recover their investment there is little incentive for investing in building new houses.
This is all very interesting but it´s beside the point. If we build 500.000 new houses and we allow 5.000.000 people to immigrate, housing shortage is going to be made worse. It really is that simple. It´s undeniable. Simple maths. So if you keep saying this is a far right position you´re letting the far right be right about something. You´re strenghtening the far right.
I don´t want the far right to rise in Europe, that´s why I would like mainstream parties to be more openly and clearly against immigration. This way, they will get more support.
And the electricity thing, yeah we have that in the Netherlands too. Because strangely ever since those companies were privatized all their profit went to shareholders and nothing to innovation or expansion of the grid, even though the overload situation was predicted a decade ago.
In fact, after announcing that we'd go into a hard winter with gas/electricity prices for consumers needing to go up again, those self same companies also rejoiced in their record profits this year. But the ones making the decisions to scalp all the common workers are not Muslim immigrants. Neither are the shareholders that in theory could push a company to innovate and use part of it's profit to lower prices.
But hey immigrants scary! evil! don't look at the ones actually screwing you over!
