Isaac Asimov on anti-semitism

Which threads? Be specific.
I'm not going to read through all those posts again to find the specific threads, but here are the ones where such accusations may appear: 1, 2, 3.

What is that supposed to mean? And you seem to have ignored that bit: "Actual, you make a logical error here. In fact, a rather trivial one. The fact that you can find prejudiced people in every community has nothing to do with the question whether a certain criticism of Israel is either i) factual and ii) motivated by bias."
That's because I didn't understand your point. I did not present Asimov's words as an answer to the question of "whether a certain criticism of Israel is either i) factual and ii) motivated by bias." Instead, I offered his words as a rejection of the same kind of thinking that leads to unfounded accusations of anti-semitism and which blinds people to the faults of those groups they happen to be a part of.

I am also not motivated enough to go over the threads, which leaves us with very place for discussion on the merits of accusations.

By the way, the last thread has to do with some things said by Thomas. Her statement was antisemitic. So at least in that case the accusation is fully justified.

Fair enough. But the question remain, how would you know whether an accusation that some claim is antisemitic is valid? Are you familiar with the history of antisemitism? There are certain motifs which appear again and again. This is a good place to start. (Ironically, it was written a while back by someone which object to the existence of all nation states, including Israel. Still relevant today.)

Certain statements may reasonably be described as antisemitic even when taken at face value, but not all statements are so easily subject to criticism. It is my opinion that those accusations that prompted this thread concern statements of the second kind rather than the first.

That is a good point, but a rather obvious one. At least for me.

Yeah, but I rather thought it was speaking to the tendency of some to consider almost anything Israel does to be acceptable, because of Jewish history. Personally, I don't pay much attention to the issue except to wish people would stop killing each other over ideologies, but then, we are human, aren't we, so that'll never happen.

Adrian- admit it. You're an undercover agent for Hamas.
So was that wierdo Asimov.

:id:

By the way, if you actually have a specific comment, please make it. I will do my best to answer.

The quote was perfectly obvious - it implied (I wonder... instead of Can anybody give a specific... makes it implied) that the poster believes you have made posts that would qualify as trolling and wishes to know how many of your total posts would fall in the trolling category. With no offense, that was extremely obvious. Note: I am not saying any number of your posts were/are trolling or not as, frankly, I do not remember any of them.

Carry on.:)
