Is Tom Brady A Liar And Cheat?

What's the proper punishment? I can't imagine he'd be punished more than someone who actually did something criminal, like beat his girlfriend. Isn't the punishment for cheating in this way set at a $25,000 fine, can there even be a suspension imposed, since the cheating actions were actually performed by other members of the team staff, not Tom Brady himself?

The rumors swirling are of a suspension of up to 8 games. The sportsbooks putting out lines definitely expect a suspension.

Over/Under set at 3.5 games
$100 on no suspension will win you $500 if it hits.

So why is this thread in Conspiracy Theories instead of sports.

Conspiracies (either proven or alleged) belong in whatever sub-forums they relate to.

The conspiracy theory sub-forum is for moon-landing-was-a-hoax stories, 1200-servicemen-will-institute-martial-law stories, JFK was killed by Mafia/KGB/CIA/NFS stories, British Jews started WW I stories, and the like.

It's instructive as to what a real conspiracy looks like, and how it is brought to light.

Wow!

Seriously, the NFL is supposedly trying to get on the good side of us female types and to punish a player more for cheating at the game (based on a not-very-definitive-sounding report) than for assaulting a girlfriend (based on a pretty-darn-definitive-looking video) won't help their cause at all.

It's Roger Goodell being a heavy-handed commish. The absurdity surrounding Spygate was all you needed to know about this idiot.

It's not the crime that's being punished. It's the coverup. In the case of Spygate, it was Belichick telling Goodell that he'll keep right on filming from the sidelines, thank you. Goodell needed to show who was boss, which is why the Patriots got such unprecedented fines.

In short, Roger Goodell is so high on himself that he can't stand to be made to look bad.

Did he assault his girlfriend during the game also?

Patriots Fan does not like Goodell because he dared to fine the Patriots for Spygate. Yawn.

Depends. Look at what sports did to Pete Rose for legal betting on himself. They view the integrity of the game as an important thing and say torturing dogs isn't a big deal in comparison.

Of course it seems cheating is popular enough that no one really cares anymore.

I don't follow sports especially professional football but may I naively asked why cheating would be treated leniently?*

NFL ruling just came down.
4 game suspension for Brady.
Million dollar fine and loss of the first round draft pick for the Pats.(the draft pick loss is much more damaging then the fine, since the Pats are aging and have to start thinking about rebuilding.Weird to say that about the defending champs, but they are really getting old).
Scream of agony from the Pats fans to follow.

The Patriots have decided not to appeal the NFL's penalty of one million dollars, and two draft picks. Announced today.

I think that was predictable. From what I understand there was no internal appeal available for the team, so any appeal would have been an attack in court. If they think the investigation was intrusive I think they would really enjoy formal discovery.
