Is there a physicist in the house?

You must need a particularly inflated opinion of your own intellect and knowledge to gainsay the consensus of expert opinion in a field that you are not actually involved in. Still, I see he is getting cheers from the peanut gallery in the comments section.

I particularly liked the "appeal to Feynman":
Where is Richard Feynman when you really need the guy, anyway?

I imagine he's pretty busy turning in his grave.

That isn't just stupid, it's meta-stupid: what he's saying (at least in a few places) is actually correct and completely standard - but due to his kindergarten level of physics education he doesn't realize it.

I mean for god's sake, the Higgs condensate actually is an invisible energy field that permeates all of matter and imbues it with mass, and the Higgs particle is a (good) vibration in that field. This stuff should be any New Ager's dream... hell, they even use crystals in the calorimeters at the LHC!

Oops...I guess Tex doesn't work here.

Somebody needs to take a quantum mechanics course before writing inflammatory articles...

and has a grudge...

It's no less strange than a refrigerator magnet, which summons a mysterious force from the ether and uses it to cling to a slippery surface, day after day, year after year, using an unexplained force that persists, even without any apparent cause.
and maybe needs to read a few books...

Wow.

Thanks Terry! I post on "Sciforums" and they use this same board software as this one...I thought it would use the same syntax. Thanks for the update.

[latex]$${C_{Terry}} = \sqrt {{r^2}} $$
[/latex]

Where "C",coolness, is equal to the square root of rockingness squared.

I'm just a physics novice...but I'm trying to learn more'a them thar book smarts. :)

Or perhaps he was setting an elephant trap, and a bunch of people here just fell into it.

Why on earth would you take the square root of rockingness squared? The only reason I can think of is if you mean Terry's made of coolness even if he's anti-rock.

When I am in my dungeon, transforming the elements using my philosophers stone, why of course I use my crystals to verify the transfomation went according to my spell.

Shouldn’t that be “When I am in my dungeon, transmuting the elements using my philosophers stone, why of course I use my crystals to verify the transmutations went according to my spell.”

Please read some of the latest scrolls (I mean the ones that haven't turned to dust already).
