Is there a conservative "politifact", "snopes", "factcheck.org" etc?

Most of the complaining about Politifact was that they declared the Democratic party claim that "Republicans voted to end Medicare" their "Lie of the Year" based on the idea that they were not voting to "end" Medicare, but rather to slowly transition Medicare to a voucher system. Democrats believe that the Ryan voucher plan slowly replaces Medicare with a voucher system that happens to be named "Medicare".

If you viewed the Ryan voucher plan as being a different program that happened to also be named "Medicare", then the Democratic claim was true. If you thought it was just a "change" to Medicare, then the Democratic claim was false.

If you viewed the claim as true, then Politifact taking a statement of fact and naming it their "Lie of the Year" is obviously going to strike you as pretty outrageous.

Right, Ryan proposed reforming Medicare and Democrats lied and said he wanted to end Medicare.

Sure, interpretation of facts can be biased, but facts themselves cannot be.

When dealing with complex statements, one may find that not everything is pure black and pure white. There may be some gray. Deciding whether it is light gray or dark gray can be a biased process.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs...

I'm sure that if Republicans had described votes for health care reform as votes to end health care in this country you would recognize the claim as dishonest.

I would first need to read their reasoning on the matter. It would also help if they would provide an alternative plan to bring health care to all people.

If Ryan had proposed limiting new Medicare enrollment to people over 55 years of age and putting everyone under 55 years of age into a new program called “Vouchercare”, Democrats would call it ending Medicare, and they would be right. Ryan simply called the new program “Medicare” instead of “Vouchercare” and suddenly Democrats calling it “ending Medicare” are not only called liars, but have it labeled the “Lie of the Year”. And that is against such nominees as Jon “not intended to be a factual statement” Kyl’s statement about Planned Parenthood, or Bachman’s HPV vaccine lie.

Regardless of what you call it though, the Ryan plan is stupid.

These seem specifically dedicated to responding to their idea of bad "lefty" stories... not to examining claims from all sources.

Had they said they think Ryan's plan is stupid no one would have accused them of lying. But what they did was run around screeching, "OMG, the Republicans want to eliminate your Medicare," basic scare tactic politics. And PolitiFact did a fine job explaining themselves, namely they both considered the dishonesty and popularity of claims. When Bachmann claimed that vaccines make you retarded, no one except for maybe Jenny McCarthy and Alex Jones, took her seriously. The, "OMG, the Republicans are going to end Medicare" nonsense was oft repeated.

Not really. They just give drongos like Ryan too much credit for ethics. He is about as ethical as your typical carnival barker.

Brian Dunning, who runs Skeptoid, is on the right, I believe. There aren't that many, though. Reality has a well-known liberal bias.

They were ending Medicare. They were replacing it with a program that was nothing like Medicare. It was going to be a private program healthcare program, subsidized by the government. And it would have resulted in millions of Americans who currently have Medicare, to have nothing at all.

I'm going to submit that to Politifact as a lie. They asserted that, "OMG, the Republicans want to eliminate your Medicare as we know it." A 100% correct statement.

Snopes, etc. are called "liberal" and therefore "not conservative" by people whose approving idea of conservatism is not to like facts.

All of the quotes that PolitiFact rated as "false" or "pants on fire" left off the (apparently) all-important qualifier "as we know it."

Can somebody explain to me what the difference between "fact checking" and "conservative fact checking" might be.
