In this video by shazoolo, he askes his viewers to reconsider the usage of a ouija board but, instead of resorting to naturalistic explanations for the ouija board he warns of its supposed paranormal powers. Now, I'm not railing against him just because he's a Christian. On the contrary, I think that most Christians or critics of the ouija board would love to have a testable naturalistic explanation of the ouija board phenomenon so that they can effectively prevent youngsters from using it. However, shazoolo isn't doing much for his cause by warning viewers of its connection to demons, devils, spirits etc.

I offer the following suggestions to shazoolo or any future youtube critics of the ouija board:

1. Offer the skeptic version of the ouija board. Explain the ideomotor effect and perform the blindfold experiment.

2. (for the religious or philosophical) Make a statement that self-deception is the central power of the ouija board and that it is just as damaging to the spirit or soul as is lying or stealing.

Comments are appreciated and welcomed.

Please don't take this as me being rude, but who is Shazoolo and why should I care?

For an accurate and hilarious explanation about Ouija Boards, Shazoolo should watch Penn & Teller's, Bulls..t! season one, episode 12, Ouija Boards/Near Death Experiences.

Penn & Teller pulled a devilish deed in positioning a Ouija Board to show there are no spirits controlling the planchette!!!

Why couldn't an Ouija board be dangerous? People who believe in this and use such a board might make decisions based on what the board "tells" them.

In which case, it's still not the board that is dangerous...

Ouija boards don't kill people , ---- you know the drill..

I get what you mean. It could be the board, coins, dice, a magic 8 ball...

But still, I think that an Ouija board (or coin etc...) can trigger people to use it to make their decisions, people who else might have thought about certain questions them selfs.

It's like calling the psychic hotline for advise.

Yes. That can happen. Not nearly as dangerous as believing in Jesus and praying to God. That is much, much, much more dangerous. It is not like a mostly empty gun to your head, but more like a fully loaded rocket launcher that will not only destroy you but all of those around you.

Beware the cult of Jesus. Jesus will fill your arms with electricity. He will tell you that he is the muse God, the Holy Spirit. He will tell you that he has been chosen, and that you are chosen, and that he is a special healer and that you can be a special healer if you believe in him. Jesus will give you training and special knowledge. I will make you feel really special.

Pray, pray, to the Lord of Man, the Holy Spirit, the One True God. Accept the training, the special knowledge, the electricity, and ignore don’t worry about when the message of the Church, and the Christ, and Holy Jesus, requires you to do silly and embarrassing task in the Name and the Word of the Lord.

The only way to get free is to contact some locate atheist to not pray for you so that you can be FREE.

Repent of it, this evil Christ. Seek out ask atheists who can get you disbeliefs and can give you support.

Thank you for listening. :D

A bunch of my friends once did a ouija board, and on the way home one of them claimed his brakes failed on his bike, his handlebars locked and he smashed into the back of a parked truck. I don't doubt he crashed, or that he *claimed* his brakes failed/bike locked up - people saw it happen. What worries me is why he would go to the lengths of injuring himself? Some years later he killed himself, I don't know if the two incidents are connected, but he could sometimes be somewhat unstable at times. He always claimed that it actually happened the way it did - I never believed him.

Lately the thrift stores and flea markets have been flooded with this things ( i am a pretty big flea market/ thrift store guy, the most interesting crap is always there.), and to a lesser extent the atmosfear and nightmare games.

If the ouiji board was so evil, why couldn't it stop itself from being chucked out en masse? I mean when i was a kid that was the big thing, that you couldn't get rid of them without specifically giving them to someone who accepted them.

Maybe if the ouiji board was a bit more fun it would have a place in my room along with the ( somehow new ) copies of atmosfear i found.

Why do you assume he intentionally injured himself, rather than attributing an accident to the Ouija board instead of simply regarding it as an accident? Brakes aren't foolproof, and I've had quite a few accidents regarding failed/locked brakes, unresponsive handlebars, etc.

Theres no such thing as a normal accident in someone who is batwing crazies mind. It all Relates to "God" or "Ghosts". This is coming from people who cannot just admit to themselves that, I screwed up. And it's My fault.

I don't know about the ouija board, but those Atmosfear games are pure evil. Heaven help anyone banished to the blagole.

Is the Ouija board dangerous?

No ... not intrinsically so, unless lead or cadmium based paint is used to form the letters, or nitrocellulose is the board material and it's used near candles, or ... you get the idea.

The real danger is in the idea that people take what it says seriously -- sorta like Sylvia Browne's fans -- and then act upon those beliefs.

Yeah for my dollar, the atmostfear games have some legitimate scary moments. The ouija board just has you saying " i know your moving it a-hole".

That being said finding a copy completely new, ( even the pieces were un put together and still in their plastic holsters.) is a much more paranormal event than anything i have seen demonstrated by a ouija board.

He said that his bike failed and while that may be the case, the others with him said he aimed for the truck - as in changed direction to hit it. But why would both brakes fail and handlebars/fork lock on a bike that was o.k a few hours before? One of the three maybe. Or maybe he fancied himself as a stuntman.

That could be true.
