Is the fraud-seeking DOGE, a fraud?

DOGE was formed to seek out and destroy waste and fraud. Yet every day they claim to be killing fraud that doesnt exist, or their numbers are totally screwed up, or they outright lie.

Which is the bigger fraud, the stuff that DOGE uncovers... or DOGE itself???

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/02/us/politics/doge-musk-contracts-errors.html

DOGE is also taking credit for contracts that were completed or canceled decades ago.

In one case, DOGE listed a contract worth $8 million as actually being worth $8 billion. In another, it mistakenly counted the same $655 million contract three times. In yet another, it erroneously said that a huge contract at the Social Security Administration had been fully canceled, saving $232 million. In reality, only a small project within that contract had been canceled. Actual savings: $560,000.

By last week, all of those claims were gone. DOGE revised the total savings from these five cuts from $10 billion down to about $19 million.

On their website, DOGE claims $150 billion in savings. But they can only prove MAYBE $9 billion.

No it wasn't

Kind of answering the question yourself. There's a reason he fired all the accountant, auditors, and inspectors general and brought in his army of high school business bros and script kiddies.

You also have to account for the cost of fixing what they break. And also the services that are being lost. The way they seem to define "fraud" in a lot of cases is "something Lord Hairplugs doesn't personally like and/or understand".

Here's a better question: What is DOGE? Is it a government agency? Is it an advisory group answering the PINO? What ever answer they give, they are breaking laws. What exactly is Musk's role?

the goal of DOGE is to generate excuses for privatizing most of what the Federal Government does - not to find fraud or inefficiency and fix them. Because of that, suspicion is as good as proof when finding a reason why there is no point to make government agencies better, since in the absence of a profit motive they can never be as efficient as a private enterprise (according to myth).
To further this goal it is useful to cripple agencies in the "search for fraud" to prove that they don't work! Well, not work if you fire key personnel and defund them, but we won't mention that.

Yes, DOGE is set up as a fraud on the American People, and it is functioning as intended.

And to directly funnel more money and data to Musk, Theil, Andreesen, and all the rest of the broligarchy

I look forward to my eventual DOGE reimbursement check, sent to every American taxpayer so we can share the savings. Will probably be around $1.

There was talk of sending every American taxpayer a reimbursement of something like $5,000. What happened to that, does anyone know?
Gonna go way out on a limb and suggest it was said by someone without the most nodding acquaintance with honesty?

That assumed $150 billion in DOGE-initiated savings. So far receipts can only prove about $9 billion.

:ROFLMAO:

Here's some reporting with details.

I suspect the reason would be to forestall criticism of DOGE and to provide some illusion of evidence that actual money is being saved. As several including the OP have noted, the actual savings the DOGE can document is far less than the claimed savings.

If not to create the feeling of money actually being saved, certainly to get constituents inclined to believe whatever he says if it means a fat check mailed to you. Support can indeed be bought.
