Is Santorum Quitting?

Following Romney's win in yesterday's Florida primary, I looked at the average of various polls at my usual site and found the following results:

Gingrich 29.8%
Romney 28.8
Santorum 16.5
Paul 12.0

So, it would appear that Gingrich and Romney are running neck and neck. However, that's only part of the story. The site also gave the count of their actual number of delegates, as follows:

Romney 65
Gingrich 23
Sntorum 6
Paul 3
Total number of delegates at the Republican convention: 2,286

Watching the MSNBC coverage of the primary last night, it would appear that Santorum is positioning himself for a future run at the Republican nomination. If this is true, he probably won't drop out in favor of Gingrich, but will keep campaigning right up to the convention.

Ron Paul is, of course, a perennial candidate; so we can expect him to continue to bring up the rear in Republican primaries until he either figures he's too old or simply drops dead in mid-campaign.
