Is Humanity Experiencing a Consciousness Revolution?

I just finished reading a text titled The Consciousness Revolution authored by Ervin Laszlo, Stanislav Grof, and Peter Russell. The book, ‘The Consciousness Revolution’ is an essential guide to how our map of reality is changing in the midst of the global transformation going on in all parts of the world and in every sphere of life, in us and around us.

To me, a Consciousness Revolution is a significant shift in consciousness, similar to that of a paradigm shift. A Consciousness Revolution is a time in history where humanity actualizes our essence. A Consciousness Revolution is a point in time where humanity awakens globally.

Is humanity currently experiencing a consciousness revolution?
Without more rigid definitions, your question is meaningless.
There is no evidence of "conciousness", an individual's own awareness of their perceptions, being "shared" by any means other than the normal ones. Sure, we have more and quicker ways of communicating globally, but we're still just a bunch of individual social animals. Even if all of humanity were to become aware of some piece of knowledge very quickly, it would still happen on the individual level, and would affect humanity in the same way that any important and widely distributed bit of knowledge would.

To the people who are being indifferent, we appreciate your interest in the topic.

To the people who are being sarcastic, provincial, and negative, I do not have time to address your pessimistic outlook, regarding your experience here on Earth. :)

To the people who are being critical, open-mined, and positive, I thank you for your input. As other in-tune posters have noted, consciousness is always evolving.

Anyone familiar with Terence McKenna and his Novelty Theory and Time Wave Zero Point? I am not saying I am entirely in support of it; but, who is versed with this idea?

Is there a critical point in history when consciousness and information sharing accelerates much more quickly than in the past?

Terence McKenna fried his brain with DMT.

What about a Dance Dance Revolution? Are we experiencing one of those?

Perhaps to illuminate the nature of the impending consciousness revolution, it would help to examine a post-revolution scenario.

Currently, for instance, I eat a daily meal at approximately noon. Sometimes for this meal I travel a short distance (by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle depending on the weather) to a market to purchase a sandwich known locally as an "Italian hoagie." The sandwich is made of sliced meats, cheese, and various vegetables on an elongated roll. The market is an establishment designed to facilitate comparable purchases of many different edible substances at one centralized location. The purchase is accomplished by my forfeiting a portion of the balance of funds in a bank account, which I accumulate by way of compensation from working at a job. A job is when I perform a task that someone else wants performed, but does not want to do themselves, in exchange for the aforementioned financial compensation.

Following the hypothesized consciousness revolution, which elements of the above description will change, and in what ways?

Respectfully,
Myriad

Lots and lots and lots and lots of chocolate will be involved. :)

Seriously, though... well, actually, the chocolate part IS serious, except that this particular time and space-altering drug can be experienced right now (I have a great chocolate mousse recipe)... the DMT thing does have an interesting application. There are quite a number of ayahuasca studies that have been done recently (a search on www.pubmed.gov will turn them up,) and there's definitely more research interest into the psychomimetic drugs now.

The most fascinating part of all is that one med with at least some of the same mechanisms of action as DMT and all the other psychomimetics (agonism of the 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C serotonin receptors) is legal. It's Topamax (topiramate), an anticonvulsant. (In fact, it's half of a new weight loss drug that will be out soon, Qnexa. It's a terrible idea, IMHO, because the side effects of Topamax can be horrendous.) Topamax does indeed have some profound effects on consciousness, although I can't believe they're anything like DMT. Since I take it (Topamax, not DMT!) I should know.

Nope, just missed it, the Consciousness Revolution ended last friday at 10:00PM (EST). You can still catch the Theosophical Revolution this saturday, though.

So I've missed the Revolution? When can I next get my chance to actualize my essence?

Damn. Why can't some tell be about these things in advance? I need to cash in some of my essence so I can buy a Wii.

Bolding mine. I have come to totally despise the phrase 'paradigm shift' over the last decade. So much so I am going to say this in Shatner:
Most...
Overused...
Phrase...
Of...
The...
Decade.
If a real paradigm shift comes along I am going to call it something else out of spite; a "muphlesperryday" sounds like it will suffice.

Of the decade? You are young, aren't you?

Expand consciousness ?? First we need a consciousness size metric - otherwise it's babble.

At last, something useful! Please continue.......... :)

All righty then. :)

I will now reveal the secret of Chocolate Paradise, formerly available only to the highest initiates:

Truffle Layer:

1/2 cup of Crème Fraîche (or regular heavy cream if you don't want to be all fancy)
12 oz. Dark Chocolate (use very high quality, 70% cocoa, chocolate

3/4 cups Cocoa Powder (the highest quality you can find) (this is optional. If you put this in, it will be very chocolatey but not very sweet at all.)
2 tbsp. Butter

How to Make It:

1. Break chocolate into small pieces and put in a large bowl.
2. Bring cream slowly to an almost-simmer. WATCH CAREFULLY!
3. Pour cream over chocolate and keep stirring until all the chocolate has melted and the batter is nice and even. You can also do this entire thing over a double boiler, and it might be a better idea.
4. Add butter.

Pour truffle layer into a pan. A sacrificial golden platter dedicated to the Mayan Goddess Ixtab, the goddess of the Hanged, She who receives their souls into paradise, would be most appropriate. A glass Pyrex baking dish also works. Put in the fridge.

Chocolate Mousse Layer:

4 to 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped. Use the BEST chocolate you can find. 6 oz. can be a good amount.
2 tablespoons butter, diced
Add 2 tablespoons espresso or very strong coffee if you like. You may want to sweeten this if you do use it.
1 cup heavy cream, separated-- make sure it's cold.
3 large eggs, separated. Use organic eggs if you like. :)
1 tsp. vanilla.
A few tbsp. of powdered sugar, optional

.5 Have eggs at room temperature. Separate yolks and whites. Put whites in metal bowl (copper is best).

1 Whip the cream to soft peaks, then refrigerate.

2 Combine the chocolate, butter, and espresso in the top of a double boiler over hot, but not simmering, water, stirring frequently until smooth. Add 1/2 tsp of the vanilla here. Remove from the heat and let cool a bit. Not too much.

Whip the egg whites to soft peaks. You can whip in a tablespoon or so of sugar if you like, but I don't like this mousse too sweet.

Stir the yolks into the chocolate and stir in about a fourth of the whipped cream. Stir in part of the egg whites without worrying about folding them in too much, then fold in the remaining whites more carefully, and then the remaining whipped cream. Whip the additional 1/2 cup of cream at this point and keep in the fridge. Many people like to add a couple of tablespoons of powdered sugar to this, and a 1/2 tsp. of vanilla.

Take out the truffle pan, murmuring invocations to the gods, and pour in the mousse mixture. Chill for at least a few hours, covered with plastic wrap.

Remove from fridge. Top with more whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired. Serve with raspberries and dedicate to the Goddess Innanna in an integral part of sacred temple ceremonies involving mystical fertility rites. Alternately, serve as a snack while watching the season finale of Jersey Shore with friends.

Either way, you will see visions of truth and enter new realms of consciousness. :eye-poppi

Sorry Darat, using words to describe the reality of nothing or consciousness requires some finesse. I'll have another go, it is a bit like trying to describe to form the space in which it exists. To the mind it is as if there are two realities totally seperate yet in perfect harmony, that is the external physical sensory universe and the sensational energetic inner reality.

Now concerning the OP if consciousness, which is absolutely still and intelligent at the same time, were to increase the intelligent perception of "everyday awareness" so that it started to perceive stillness then this would mean the individual 'I' is moving closer to the speed of consciousness. Previously it was moving at the speed of emotion and thought which is relatively dawdling along.
The focus has come off the identification with form and is perceiving the overlooked energetic reality in which it operates. In this energetic reality the deeper levels move at extraordinary speed which is perceived as stillness and out of it comes the perceiver.
To perceive stillness requires great speed of perception. The purpose of this is for Life to realise itself. The vehicle of self-conscious life is the human body. I as the perceiver in it am given the ability to reflect consciously on this inner reality and know that I am alive firstly, and finally to realise the life or power in the body as what I am. For this the perception must be absolutely still and unwavering and focused on the energetic reality in the body.

Thought driven by rationality is pushing the perception further into the perceived physical universe. But actually it is in the energetic universe that we live and have our being and the physical is an appearance at the very extremity of that in the senses.
I think I've got it. Sit still. Remain conscious. Take some speed. Revolve. Perceive the essence. Drink pure grain alcohol to come down off of the speed high and restore baseline essential purity.

Am I close?
