I can't imagine someone saying what she said having a problem with gay marriage handled in various ways at a state level. That's a typical small government Constitutional approach - let the states decide.

She's not running for a state office.

So where is a connection with this issue and the job she's trying to get?

Is there some kind of bill the Senate can/could/should vote on that has something to do with gay marriage?

Can't think of what it would be...

All you guys feigning indignation know that Bill Maher is a comedian who hosts a comedy show, and that sometimes on his comedy show he does comedy, right?
 
It seems to me that discussing whether Mr. Maher is a bigot or not is to attribute much more intelligence and depth to him than he actually has.

Maher being a Jew, (half Jew actually) would never say that about Boxer.

He is somewhat bigoted, but against all religions.
that Muslim from that Mosque in Religulous comes to mind." This Jew is not Funny, I know comedy and he never makes me laugh :)

ETA: I personally find he has some strange opinions about some religions, he isn't to well informed about them, but he makes me laugh with no end, i like him anyway. sympathetic bigotry if you will :D

Ya actually I don't really like listening to him talk about religion all that much - though it must be said that in his rants he does happen on to some good zingers..;) I just don't line up intellectually with his particular brand of atheism, which is I dunno, kinda preachy ironically..;)

And i assume we all saw O'Donnell on witchcraft in a clip from Maher's old show. I could not quite push away the suspicion I had that any eating she was involved in on the satanic altar was not actually of the picnic kind!

You should know that when it comes to the drug industry, he's 100% woo. Also, he smokes a lot of pot. He's not like Jon Stewart at all. He couldn't go to a breakfast on C-SPAN and hold his own, for example.


Okay, maybe he's only 90% woo.

I think he's more controversial than he is funny. I do have his book "New Rules" and it includes some funny anecdotes.

Then again I think there are those here on JREF who could smoke a whole bag of weed, sit in the front row of the circus when the spotlight turns to the clowns piling out of a Mini Cooper and still keep a straight face due to their lack of humor.

Really, Bill Maher does have a sense of humor and I really gained respect for him when I watched this...
