With our glorious tree stump (seriously, listen to one of his speeches some time) announcing last year that Ireland will have it's referendum on allowing same sex marriage some time in the spring (I'm guessing May myself), all the nutjob christian groups are coming out the woodwork recently, as detailed in this thread over at boards.ie

Leaflets have been posted to houses around the country:

And of course our own home grown nutjob group the Iona Institute (which is in no way funded solely by rich US fundamentalists) has a store of ads and leaflets stored up for such an emergency.

I wonder how the sounds of sodomy (now there's a Simon and Garfunkel song I missed) in a homosexual marriage differ from the sounds of sodomy in a heterosexual marriage and how the sounds of sodomy differ from the sounds of other kinds of sex.

It's the Irish rcc version of marriage. Instead of people getting married because they love each other, here people get married to put the fear of god into the other person.

Edit: @The Don, from a biblical point of view, sodomy is any sex act that is not expressly done for the begetting of children. But ask any Irish anti-sodomites if they are against a husband and wife having sex at the wrong time of the month (i.e. when the missus isn't fertile or they're both gone auld) and answer come there none.

A Christian group in Ireland is trying to prevent gay marriage in that country. To that end, they have produced a pamphlet that asks:

"Should children be exposed to sounds of sodomy?"

"Should children be exposed to this beastly obsession with unholy acts?"

Dare I ask how would they know what the sounds of sodomy are and how does those sounds sound any differently to normal procreation?

That is an excellent point.

Henceforth, I suggest that all same sex marriage couples be required to provide two sets of ear plugs and two blindfolds to two children who may wish to avoid the sights and sounds of gay sex.

Also, I suggest that all opposite sex marriage couples be required to provide two cameras and two stethoscopes to two children who may wish to enjoy the sights and sounds of straight sex.

That should fix things.

I've always wondered why in 2015 anybody really associates sodomy with homosexuality.

For example: why would 'preventing sodomy' be a good reason to bar lesbian weddings?

If anything, numbers-wise, sodomy is an overwhelmingly straight couples' behavior. For every gay male couple out there doing it, there's nine straight couples doing it. If you want to stop it, concentrate your campaign on straight marriage and you'll get the best bang for the buck.

Also: if there is a 'sound of sodomy' it's probably queefs.

True story.

When i was living with my old straight roommate i happened to bring a gent home (I'm bi which will come into play in a moment). We was in his room when i did so.

Said gent and myself had a but of fun and he left.

A bit later my roommate came out of his room and looked around in confusion, asking "...so where is Jess?" (a girl i had been seeing a month or so prior).

I was a little confused and asked " why would you think she came over?" To which he replied "well i heard you and some girl and i just assumed it was her. ".

I was half embarrassed half trying not to laugh as i said "um...that was me, Pat came over. "

His response was a kind of astounded "really?"

So yes professional opinion the sounds of sodomy can be damn near identical to that of good old fashioned straight pre martial sex.
