Internet services you would like to see!

I am still waiting for the smell generation devices that used to be at CES every year.

I use software that blocks certain numbers based on the caller ID info. It would be nice if it auto upadted lists from a community site. If so many people block a number it gets blocked for everybody. It wouldnt take long to block out all the "charities" and robot telemarkers I keep getting.

A search engine that shows a douche ranking next to each hit so I know what to avoid. Things like backgound music (double points for midi), background images, certain color combinations, l33t speak, and so forth would raise the score.

A proxy that autofills any passwords when found in the bugmenot database.

.... cutting off his internet access by restricting his MAC from the wireless router...

Kids are smart today he could figure out how to spoof MAC in a weekend if he wanted to. He can download a linux bootable CD that will crack any windows server admin password. If you have physical access to the network and a little tech knowledge there is ultimately nothing that can stop you from having your way with it. I dont think you can win that war with a savvy 15 year old these days.

That would be a small battle in the total headbutting with kid war.

Well, in a way I can win if truly needed... Though he did try to hook on to a neighbor's unprotected wireless system (he really is not that savvy... he is more mechanical than computer savvy). BUT... since it is a laptop, I can physically remove the laptop and put it into the workshop. That workshop has a dead bolt lock, and only hubby and I have the keys. Plus if need be, we are actually thinking of cancelling the WoW subscription (as of yet the kid does not have a credit card).

There are other things one can do... from refusing to chauffeur, to restricting allowance and other things.

Though we would really like to see him learn to use his time better on his own. We figure this might help him become one of those college students that actually study, as opposed to the few we knew who had freedom for the first time and screwed it up to the point of flunking out.
