Internet search queries and parameters

What an odd thing to say. What are you trying to find on Pinterest?

Nothing. They were – as I did, when I experienced the same thing, and agree with them – doing an image search (with google, and maybe some other search services). Results come back, and some (a lot, sometimes) are from Pinterest. Thing is, you will never get a nicely sized image in a somewhat high enough resolution from Pinterest. Only thumbnails, and links to thumbnails. Links upon links upon links that only ever deliver a thumbnail. I'm sure at some point in time some Pinterest user has uploaded the image in a nice resolution, but the original is gone by now. What remains are a ******** of references to it.

Facebook, for one, outright denied it in Congressional hearings. And they have so many sources for deriving knowledge about you that they really don't have to.

I highly recommend anyone who is worried about Facebook listening in on conversations listen to this episode, or read the transcript. It won't make you feel better about Facebook's invasive ad targeting, because it's crazy, but it will settle your fears about it secretly using you're phone's microphone to do so.

I'll definitely read it because I'm a tech junkie, but frankly I don't believe a ******* thing Facebook says. All they've done is lie at every opportunity they're given. I've almost deleted my profile a few times because of their egregious invasions of personal privacy, selling off my data, and the like. I completely and entirely understand the concept of "if you're not paying for the service, then you're the product". To some extent, I agree with it, but Facebook and the people that run it are ******* garbage. I despise that company, and if it wasn't for pictures of my grandkid it probably would have been gone by now.

TL;DR If anyone from Facebook is saying they aren't doing it, it's almost guaranteed that they are and have been for awhile.

ETA: It's not isolated either, Samsung had to change after this was caught:

Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of Voice Recognition," Samsung posted in its SmartTV privacy policy.

I dare say it would be as easy, if not easier, to do with a cell phone. Rare are the people that read through all of the permissions an app asks for if they truly want that app.

I can't even get that far because Pinterest always wants me to log in. I just skip all pinterest results in my searches now.

-Pinterest sometimes works and sometimes not. I find google has actually gone downhill in terms of function as it tries to show all the things it thinks you could have meant. It’s like someone with ADD who is trying to hard to please you. Oh oh I know you we’re asking about Skoda car parts but you like cheese don’t you so here’s some cheese and a reference to garbage collection and and and you know who else has a Skoda that’s right that guy who had a bit part in 2 episodes of Babylon 5 and you like tha...oooo a squirrel and did I tell you I stopped taking my schizophrenia meds as they were interfering with my yoga which my friend Sanjay started me and yes that is ".........

Hi plague311. :)

How often do you use Facebook, and/or when did you last use it?

Do you think that Zuckerberg outright lied to the congressional committee? That's quite an accusation.

Yes, I do:

In his testimony, Zuckerberg told lawmakers that "we don't sell data to anyone." He also said, "This is the most important principle for Facebook: Every piece of content that you share on Facebook, you own and you have complete control over who sees it, and how you share it, and you can remove it at any time."

But now, it appears that these weren't accurate statements. According to the Times, Facebook allowed more than 150 companies to view private user data, including their private messages.

It certainly wouldn't be new for him at all. That guy is ******* trash of the lowest caliber and my default setting for him is that he's lying.

I would say I'm a moderate user. I check it at least daily, for the most part. The last time I used it was about an hour ago.
