Merged Intermittent Fasting -- Good Idea or Not?

zooterkin, the coconut water I have is 100% coconut water from young green coconuts. No additives whatsoever. Also, as regards your earlier comments, I have drunk from mature coconuts in the Islands and the milk from the mature coconut is entirely different from the water from the young green coconuts.

No need for any additives, what I listed is what is there naturally.

Fixed that for you. I didn't say it wasn't different; I said it wasn't milk. Coconut milk is extracted from the flesh of the coconut.

zooterkin and dlorde... In my travels to many Islands where coconuts lie scattered where they fall, and where natives scale the trunks to collect those which have not fallen, the liquid from the mature coconut is referred to as coconut milk. Obviously my reference was not to the processed product from the coconut kernel.

Decided not to have the lemon and peppermint. I would have preferred to stay with water only, but my daughter insists on the occasional alternate beverage and daily Q10 and Krill Oil Capsule. She may be right... so will continue to the eleventh day of my fast on room temperature filtered water with an occasional coconut water, warm filtered water with a taste of chamomile, or weak apple cider vinegar with a little honey and cinnamon.

Day 19 of my fast, and feeling great. Still having only an occasional coconut water, or an occasional room temperature filtered water with a little apple cider vinegar... It is a weak solution which comes already mixed with a taste of honey. Krill oil and Q10 capsule daily. Exercising from 2 to 4 hours daily.

The dangers of fasting for such a long period have been pointed out to you both here and in the LDS thread.

The purpose of this thread IIRC was to explore the benefits of intermittent fasting as a means to control weight. I'm pretty sure that there aren't many doctors or dieticians who would advocate undertaking a 20+ day under any circumstances and certainly not for weight control purposes.

Going back to the OP, my 65 year old neighbour has now lost close to 20 lbs by fasting (actually consuming less than 500 calories) two days a week. His wife, who was already very skinny, has decided not to continue because she felt she was getting too light.

The Don, I am not advocating others fast, and though the OP mentions intermittent fasting, it seemed appropriate to the topic to give a first hand report of fasts I have undertaken in the past, and an update on the fast I am at present undertaking, which as previously posted, is not for weight control.
I am slender. The reason I fast is to rest the body and allow for natural healing.

Then kindly take that discussion off into another thread possibly entitled

"Long term fasting as a means to facilitate natural healing"

I'd be very interested to see if there's any evidence at all to support it.

Thread is about intermittent fasting and possible medical benefits.

the fast I am at present undertaking, which as previously posted, is not for weight control.

We know. It's for pious bragging rights. Same as the internet martyrdom is. Gotta show the other church ladies who's the holiest.

well, that's a lot harsher than i would have put it.

still, fasting is interesting, however right or wrong.
any reports back, from the willing, should add to the data collection.
anecdotal, or not.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually believe Janadele is doing this?

She has a meager but steady source of calories and dietary supplements, so she probably is. Whether it's fasting is another question

And as Stomatopoda so elegantly put it:

Whilst excercising 2-4 hours a day and traveling?
But yes, you're quite right to question whether this is fasting, of course.
Still, as long as Janadele is happy with the possible organ damage they're courting, that's that.

Back to intermittent fasting?

I guess lies are a kind of data.

Back to intermittent fasting?
At the end of January I set myself the target of getting down from 73 kilos (BMI 26.8) to 70 kilos (BMI 25.7) by Easter, mostly by drastically reducing my calorie intake on Tuesdays and Thursdays (though I also cut out cake altogether). I weighed myself this morning: 69.5 kilos :)

I just bought myself some cake for the bank holiday weekend to celebrate :D
