Intelligent Design vs. BaseBall Bat

Oh, that is just priceless. Very well done.

As I posted on Skeptico's entry on the article:

Please stand by. BronzeDog's comment will be posted after he gets a new pair of boxers and stops the involuntary diaphragm spasms long enough to get his blood's oxygen level back to normal.

Clearly, the leg was designed not to link up, thereby causing excrutiating pain, which was the plan all along. This is evidence of an intelligent designer!

I dunno, sounds like intelligent design by the most intelligent designer of them all....Ed.

Boo

Indeed, though it seems senseless to the mere skeptic, this is just further evidence that God's plan is so vast and complex and unfathomable that we mere mortals must stand in awe of its magnificent mystery. There is no demonstration of God's wisdom quite as enlightening or satisfying as the misfortune of others.

Now that sums it up, and the feelings of rational people too. I'd love to take a baseball bat to some of them too.

Well, the Ramones already explained it to us a while ago:

"Beat on the brat, beat on the brat,
beat on the brat with a baseball bat, oh yeah."

Now I wanna sniff some glue. :)

And it's irreducible complex, take away the scientist, the IDer or the baseball bat and the system stops working proving it couldn't have happened in gradual steps.

Therefore the entire system could not work if you took away the designer, because otherwise the scientist would be swinging at the air while the broken leg escaped and the IDer screamed in pain for no reason.

And, of course, among the comments is a contribution from an anonymous IDer who seems unable to understand that evolution doesn't rely on the same sort of "arguments" as ID.

Funny thing about IDers is they can't seem to find examples of designs that are not intelligent...

Well of course not, because they can always fall back on the "we can't understand God's big plan" line. It looks like a stupid design, but God meant something by it that we are just too dumb to know. This is one of those perfect, dead-shot arguments that cannot be lost and applies to everything from nuptial plumage to why your sister got leukemia. This kind of faith is immune to rational opposition.
