Insane Clown Posse's song about 'Miracles' called worst song ever

As one who's a pretty big fan of ICP at least through The Wraith, yeah... this is the worst song ever.

I actually liked the new c.d., but miracles, just too....happy i guess. I think that is why a lot of people are assuming this isn't parody. Yeah it sucks, but there is an ocean of suck out there much worse than this.

And also, i have to reiterate, MTV? Since when is mtv anything other than the start to jokes about the mtv generation, and intellectually devoid programming?

I really want to agree, because I'm on record with a lot of friends as being a fan of these guys. But the fact this is being mocked by so many people in so many different arenas (cracked.com is just one of many. There are tons of macros already from sites all over the web that are too nws to post here) means it's much bigger than simply MTV calling it the worst song ever.

It's dreadfully terrible in an awful sort of new-level-of-suck way, and the only way to possibly recover from it is a new Stranglemania video.

I was just thinking of this, and it is pretty much just bowling balls. ( tone wise) But bowling balls didn't take a bunch of ***** for it. Reason being, i think people ( besides some fans) are aware that icp arn't decapitating people. But if your not in the know, miracles sounds like it is their " this is really us" song.

Btw, if you don't know Slamtv is going to be a weekly thing soon. I am pretty excited, hating wrestling, i find nothing funnier than watching 3d and Gweedo make fun of the bottom of the barrel hurting themselves for my amusement.

And big money rustlas, its really going to be an icp summer.

The problem is , that this type of music, which is satire, gets taken at face value by certain people. Icp themselves have been expressing frustration at this, i suggest watching the full interview ( not the 9 minute version ) with nightline for a "in a nutshell" of their situation.
The problem with satire is that it should be recognizable as such. It's easy enough to call something stupid "satire"; but if you don't make an effort to potray the boundaries, to show the contrast between the ridiculous and the reasonable, then your satire has failed. When you make the exaggeration more appealing and bellevable than the reasonable, you've failed.

I've always recognized that ICP is not a serious band, that they're playing roles. I just think that they're total crap at it. If more people take you seriously than actually get the joke, you're doing it wrong. The fact that there are far more dumba** juggalos than people who "get it" pretty much tells me that they're failing miserably; even considering how easily American audiences fail to recognize satire. Frank Zappa did a far better job of using exaggerated satire and parody to ridicule unreason and demagogery. Hell, GWAR does a better job with that sort of over-the-top social satire than ICP.

So if people take your ideas and act like idiots with them, it is your fault, okay. Cool, i understand. I mean i always thought it was the persons fault for doing it, but i can dig the idea of the person who put out the idea being responsible.

Though it does kinda put darwin on the hook for what the nazi's did.

To me a couple of guys who are not in jail talking about killing people constantly, not to mention stating names and locations of where the acts take place, would indicate satire. Well, that or very corrupt police forces.

But i guess we have to cater to the lowest common denominator when expressing ideas, making sure no one , even the idiots of our society could possibly take it wrong.

Must remember, " you are responsible for whatever someone does with your ideas. ", really gotta keep that one in mind. And throw out my copy of catcher in the rye, my Beatles records, my copy of SFW, origin of the species, the anarchist cookbook, any solider of fortune games or magazines i own, my copy of doom 1 and 2, my dungeons and dragons manuals, My copy of Crabbe, my cheech and chong movies, my Beavis and Butt head dvd's, Taxi driver, holy crap, i guess i am going to be here all day. I had no idea so many things were the cause of peoples stupid actions. I always thought it was the people themselves. All it took was a little research and you to open my eyes. Thank you very much.

He didn't say anything about fault.

He said Insane Clown Posse is crap.

I concur.

PS - this was long before this incidence, I heard them interviewed on Howard Stern, so I had a listen. They are just crap.

I thought art was subjective, my bad.

What part of me saying 'I concur', and 'I had a listen, they are crap' is not subjective?

Art? I would say popart, and very bad popart.

Again, subjective.

You should be happy, more insane clown posse for you.

The part where you say " its crap" is where it ceases to become subjective.

I think it is crap.

I dislike them.

Their music, in my opinion is tripe.

Would all be acceptable, the phrase, simply " it's crap" denotes objectivity not subjectivity. As in it is crap, and music can then be classified into " crap" and " not crap" from an objective standpoint. Which is simply not the case.

So you're saying that it is absolutely invalid for anyone, every to make a statement about the quality of music, painting, food, television shows, or any other "subjective" experience?

Does your prohibition only extend to negative judgments, or am I allowed to say that a particular piece of music is "great" or "beautiful"? It would be odd if an inherent subjectivity made it impossible to make negative statements broadly, but didn't prohibit positive ones. Do you generally call people out for saying a bowl of soup is wonderful?

I call shenanigans.

I am not stating that one cannot make commentary on subjective things. I believe i made that very clear within my statement where i listed a bunch of examples of proper statements.

One of the things that gets under my skin is when someone makes an claim of fact for something subjective.

Let's take the soup analogy. No i wouldn't crap on someone for saying soup is wonderful.....that is unless there was a debate about the soup.

If i tasted soup and someone said " this is the best soup ever" yet i thought it tasted like crap. I would state something to the nature of " in your opinion that is the best soup ever, personally i find it to taste like crap. "

And there is the difference, if your stating an opinion, state it as an opinion. If you are stating a fact, state it as such.

A great example , in case you just think i am being a prick about it, is in the vampires werewolves and furries thread. When stating my opinion on twilight, i make sure to state that , in fact it is just my opinion. And that i can no more say twilight is a bad film than i can say icp is a good band. I can simply state what reasons i have for disliking it.

A NSFW parody video I found:

I'm not gonna lie, I listened to the ICP song and it did not sound like satire. And this is coming from someone who mistakenly thought that Ray Comfort was satire for several months.

The video Alan posted, however, is clearly satire; and it is fairly amusing. Thanks Alan.

I thought every ICP song was the worst song ever? And I could have swore a juggalo was something you made moonshine with...

If this song was supposed to be satire, the group failed fantastically. And if, as has been suggested, the public's misidentifying ICP songs that are supposed to be satire is an ongoing and consistent problem, obviously ICP needs to re-evaluate their music.

Just saw this article about it:

'Saturday Night Live' Takes Down Insane Clown Posse With 'Miracles ... ‎

By Kyle Anderson
April 18, 2010

Saturday night's (April 17) edition of "Saturday Night Live" featured a handful of highlights, including a costume-happy performance . . .

But tucked into the end of the show was an incredibly sharp sketch sending up the Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" video, a clip that becomes more viral and talked-about by the day. The sketch surrounds the premiere of the new video from Thrilla Killa Klownz called "Magical Mysteries" (which follows up previous efforts like "Curb Stomp Your Enthusiasm"). The clip borrows the low-fi graphics of the ICP original and introduces a whole new plethora of things to be confused about.
...
The key moment of the sketch hinges on the key moment of the original "Miracles" video, where Shaggy 2 Dope earnestly asks, "F---in' magnets/ How do they work?" The Thrilla Killa Klownz answer to that particular line is "F---in' blankets/ How do they work?"
