Inflation: WHEN? HOW MUCH?

Over three years since I started this thread, and the prediction I made in the OP has held true:

So, when will we get inflation and how much inflation will we get?

My WAG: 2010 and about 2% to 3%. I don't expect inflation in excess of 4% for any full year for the next 3 years.

Apparantly some people disagree however.

Historical Inflation Rates: 1914-2012

what's this then? not looking very deflationary to me?

Yes, we are in a long-term moderate inflationary trend, which is normal.

It's the claims of impending severe inflation that I was skeptical of. E.g., averaging over 5% for a full year. We haven't had that since 1990.

my opinion (as I'm sure you know by now :) ) is that it has been gradually but steadily removed from the figures since back before then, and is still here, at higher levels than that.

if you choose not to include many things that go up with inflation in your calculations, its fairly obvious you are not going to report much.

obviously I know its all CT etc, but there is a pervasive question here that most "skeptics" don't seem very skeptical of, and should be way more so, IMO, and that is that in all those years of gradually meddling and adjusting, not once, ever, did the figures go up, after the "improvements"

its almost like staring at a "perpetual motion machine", whilst knowing it cant be true.

edit: since 1980, but calculated the 1980 way. lets at least compare apples to apples? using oranges doesnt tell us very much in the historical sense.
