Hib meningitis, meningitis C and pneumococcal meningitis have each fallen by absolutely huge proportions following the successive introduction of a vaccine against each.

I'm sure the homs and anti-vaxers will produce some piece of contorted sophistry to deny that the vaccines are the cause: obviously the increased use of homeopathy by parents in recent years has neatly and precisely targeted each of these diseases exactly in synchrony with the coincidental introduction of the vaccines.

If the death rate was steady until the introduction of vaccines then yes the figures would suggest that the vaccines can take credit for the decrease in death rate. But were they on the downward trend before the introduction of vaccines or are there large year to year variations that could account for the drop?

There are vested interests to give vaccines credit for a drop in the death rate.
