In the future there will be no religion!

Correction. A few organisations, like the Catholic church, are making millions of tax free dollars by their slaves preaching about belief in god or gods.
Don't forget those Prosperity Gospel evangelicals. I think they're what dejudge was referring to.

will science kill religion?
No, unfortunately, science will probably never kill religion. Even with all science and discoveries, there are still religions that defy science. I was talking to two Jehovah Witnesses on my porch talking about planets after they started the conversation and I told them about Mars and its loss of a magnetic field and the loss of its water. One woman asked me if there were any humans on Mars when this happened.

Here it is the 21st century in America and I met some women who actually asked that question.

Having had close contact with some JWs I have no difficulty believing your account. A wife of mine was adopted into a JW family. The religious indoctrination didn't take on her, but she maintained contact with the family and consequently I got to know them. I have never before or after met such naive and unworldly folk.

Religion has no evolution.

Boy what a silly thing to say. :jaw-dropp

I am reading "A History of Christianity" by Diarmaid MacCullock at the moment and the evolution of Christianity has been continuous from the time Jesus was strutting his stuff*. If he was to come back now he would be amazed at the beliefs that are attributed to his teachings - and his dad's also.

* Assuming he actually existed.

The alternative interpretation of that post is that the doctrine of religion is that evolution doesn't exist. But that's not true either. Some particular versions of Christianity, Islam, and a few other religions teach that evolution doesn't exist, but others teach Theistic Evolution in which God guided and directed evolution in specific ways to produce humans.

I get the impression answering Chris is a waste of time. His comprehension is extremely limited.

Religion is dogma.
And yet, religion has changed and diversified and branched and, yes, evolved by any definition of that word other than the strict biological one over the course of human history.

The religion that people practice now is VERY different from the religion that they practised in antiquity. Ergo, it has evolved.

do you think Islam can evolve?
Of course. Islam now is nothing like Islam in the 7th century.
The Egyptian scholar Nasr Abu Zayd who died in 2010, pointed out how the interpretation of the Quran has developed over time, and this work, was one of the factors that forced him to flee under threat of death to the Netherlands.

Islam, like all religions, no matter how conservative they are, will evolve to survive in the world, but what direction this will take, nobody knows.
