In search of 20,000,000 trees.

20 million?

In July, Ethiopia planted 350 million trees in a day.

In 2016, the state of Uttar Pradesh in India planted 500 million trees in a day. (The Guinness World Record.)

Typo. Uttar Pradeshs's former record was 50 million.

The Ethiopian figure was contested by some, but also deemed quite feasible potentially.

Earlier tree-planting efforts in Ethiopia and China could have counteracted global deforestation, as shown by regeneration of greenery globally by 5% on NASA satellite images over 20 years.

However, logging in Brazil and Indonesia has reduced the possible total carbon offsets, not to mention other causes of global environmental peril.
